Another Tuesday night fixture in this unforgiving league see's the Bluebirds rock up to newly promoted Dorking Wanderers on Tuesday night. Luckily it's the last Tuesday game for a while giving us a little rest between fixtures as we move into the supposedly colder months.
We go into the game with officially the meanest defence in the League, sat in 14th place and only a win (plus a few results going our way) from the 7th playoff spot. Our opponents are in a very similar position lying in 13th but have conceded 13 to our 6 and with a goal difference of -3 as opposed to our 0. If you are to read into this, it should mean that if we can do our job defensively, and create chances the way we should be able to do with our abundance of talent in the squad, this is a game that we will be confident in picking up some points in.
Dorking come into the game on a fairly poor run of form with 2 draws and 2 defeats in the last 4 games and will of course want to do something about that against us, so we will need to be on our game. Although a team that were promoted last season, they are no slouches, particularly in the final third where Dorking boast Giuseppe Sole, formerly of Woking fame and Jason Prior who Chippenham fans may remember from his time at Havant & Waterlooville the season they won the National League south, Jake Gallagher in the midfield is also a man to watch out for with the former Aldershot player having plenty of experience at a slightly higher level will be instrumental in the way Dorking set up to attack us on their 3G pitch.
Having said that, I don't think Chippenham have much to worry about with Chris Zebroski finding his feet in the Blue and White of Chippenham notching 2 in his last 3 appearances. He has been a real threat for us the last couple of games not just in front of goal but in transition his experience is really starting to show and bringing other players into the game with his incredible hold up play and aerial presence.
I am predicting a rather cautious 2-1 win here for Chippenham, I was tempted to go for 3-1 until someone pointed out that is 50% of our goals so far this season but this game is a bit of us. A team that doesn't look sensational at the back, on a 3G pitch that will allow us to get the ball down and play that brand of football that is often slightly more difficult on unpredictable pitches, whilst still having the outlet in the channel to stretch Dorking with the ball over the top.
Around a 2 hour trip from Chippenham to Dorking makes this quite a tasty little trip for the travelling Blue Army, especially on a Tuesday night but hope to see as many of you there as can make it. Wishing a safe trip to you all.

Yet another excellent summary on our next opponents Voice - I always enjoy your posts. However, I wish I could share your confidence and optimism on the outcome of tomorrow evening's game. Historically, we tend not to do SO well on 3G pitches. They certainly do tend to favor the home team. My concern is which CTFC team will turn up tomorrow night ? If the one that turned over 'Ricca' a few weeks ago turn up, we stand to get something from the game. But having witnessed the last 2 games, where we got zilch from both performances, if that team turns up, we could be in for a tough night. This is just my own personal
opinion, but I think we need a few grafters and ball-winners in the starting 11 - I saw no evidence of that against Braintree in the second half on Saturday - COYMB

Thank you Sir, Ah don't worry you'll get there soon I promise The Optimistic Army always has space for new recruits
I mean it's very difficult to argue with the facts. Monday we just simply didn't do enough to win the game against Hampton, a rare defensive lapse in concentration appeared to be the only difference maker. Cannot comment too vocally as I wasn't there.
Braintree like you said, second half we weren't quite on the money but football matches are changed on big moments. Elias possibly should have connected better with his strike, the goalmouth scramble five minutes earlier, I still don't know how that didn't result in a goal and then the less said about the penalty incident the better. Stonewall as they come and the referee has decided to wave it away after Jarv was already beating the keeper. Credit to Braintree they took their chances well and showed why they were in the Conference last year but again, I don't see them as some powerhouse that we haven't been competitive against and in fact feel slightly aggrieved not to have taken points from the game.
Not often you'll find me going against team selection and this is no different. I think Mark is doing the right thing by rotating the squad and keeping it fresh. The trouble is you can't please everyone can you. Guthrie is bought back into the side as a fiesty, ball winner with a bit of flair to unlock defences and he is vilified for picking up a booking. Luke Haines I would suggest is one of the best combative midfielders I have seen at Hardenhuish Park in sometime although another that is culpable for a booking or two. I would argue there is not a single player in that midfield this year that doesn't "graft" well and is looking a much more protective shield for the defence and that's evident in our defensive record which is so far the best in the league alongside Champions elect Havant & Waterlooville.
I really hope that you are pleasantly surprised tomorrow night come 9.30, Dorking are by no means a poor side but if we are to be all we can be, these are the games that we need to make sure we are competing in on the road and with Mark's rotation policy, a very strong bench Saturday will again be chomping at the bit to be a part of proceedings. Mark is creating a hungry squad of young players and as mentioned in his PMI Saturday, they are young. You cannot just whip together a massive playing budget and go out and grab experienced, veteran midfielders without incurring cost. We have what we have and in this method we have taken ourselves from the foot of the Southern League to a comfortable National League South side. And until one of us wins the lottery, we need to accept we are competing against some very well funded, powerhouses of clubs in the division.

Strong at the back seems to be a little bit of a theme this season throughout the division. The way I see it we will always create the odd chance, score the odd goal but if you have a solid foundation at the back and this year I think we really have got that, we always stand a chance of being in the game. I am a big believer in Game Management and not just stats when it comes to the game of football and this season in 720+ minutes of football we haven't ever been more than a goal behind, which means we are always in with a chance of taking something from games of football. If we can start clicking at the top of the field we will be a very dangerous team in this league. And let's not forget we are only 8 games in. There is lots of time to put together a little run of form and yes I am also aware there is plenty of time in order to have successive losses and spiral bit like I said, the glass is half full
