I notice two other Chippenham legends were in the crowd yesterday. A coincedence probably. Rudges none appearnce at the telephone is probably best explained here - and I see Barnes has gone.

Barnes was another who just didn't seem good enough... only with us as cover for Ballinger and Guthrie anyway?
Ballinger was inconsistent for us as he was everywhere else I've seen him play - each game flashes of brilliance and then anonymous. Given his lack of availability due to Futsal duties and him being perhaps not quite as good as he thinks he is, its not that big a loss to us. More a blow to morale already down low I would think

Interesting to see after numerous comments about communication etc that yesterday's match report is already on the clubs's website. So whoever organised that well done and lets hope it continues.
As to the game itself was going to post when I got home yesterday but lost for words. Even now the only word I can think of to describe what we saw is CLUELESS. Eleven individuals running around seemingly not having a clue what anyone else is doing. Can't fault the effort each individual is putting in and even though Tindle was unfortunate with the own goal he was my MOM based on effort alone.
One point our little group was discussing was the strange team selection, again. You are home desperate for 3 points against one of the few team now below us and you play with one out and out striker where you have two sitting on the bench. Griff is not a miracle worker and can't do it all on his own. Isn't attack the best form of defence and lets face it the way our defence is performing best stragegy is to keep the ball as far away from them as possible but you can't do that with one attacker against 4/5 defenders which was the case yesterday as the ball just keeps coming back.
Report says Kite replaced the injured Rudge so that begs the question when did he get injured and was that the reason for his woeful performance when he was on the pitch? If he was not fully fit he should not have picked himself and although there may have been doubts about Kite's fitness isn't this young lad from Cheltenham a centre back. Lets face it he couldn't have done any worse and to date the only "work experience" he has had is experience sitting on his backside. Bet Cheltenham will be very grateful for that. But then again maybe Rudge was doing the lad a favour not introducing him to the shambles that was going on out on the field.
The only positive I can think of yesterday was the size of the crowd. Still a good crowd compared to some other clubs in the league but I fear if the away games coming up are lost just how many will turn up for the next home game. Been supporting Chippenham now for some 13 years and in that time had a few ups and downs but this has to be the worst yet.

Shocking state of affairs at this club. Rudge was woeful and once beaten he revised to a rugby tackle and a yellow card. Guthrie was poor again, not the same lad at the start of the season. Redditch played some nice football and on our performance deserved to win.
The board need to act soon before it is too late, if it is not too late now. As for starting with a lone striker at home with no wide men, bonkers. Feel for Cheltenham and the lad they sent, what is the point him being here if he has splinters in his backside, he could not play any worse than any others who were on the pitch yesterday, apart from Harvey and Osman, they tried to keep it together.

I have to disagree with Ballinger not being a loss, he was the only player we had capable of causing defenders problems with his pace and direct running. As for his futsal duties we did know about this when we signed him, simply sounds like the Chippenham dressing room isn't as a good place to be as Frome's.
I do agree with "inthebox" however, what is the point of coming to Chippenham on loan, unless it's to experience a relegation battle, feel sorry for him as it couldn't have been enjoyable being sat in that dressing room last night, especially as it's not his fault.
Somebody pointed out yesterday that nine of that team were here last season so it could be argued that the fact that we're in this mess is hardly surprising. For too long we've been Chippenham Town Social Club where you get picked week in, week out regardless of form, tactics (sorry, forget we don't have any) and should we stay up, still think we will although it'll be tight a new manager and a turnover of playing personel is required.
The Park idea will hopefully yeild results in a year or two and even if we had the next Messi there do you think Rudge would give him a chance, he hasn't shown a fondness for developing youth, complete opposite actually....
Other than the performance what concerned me yesterday was the state of the pitch, playing two games a week on it is having an effect still with what we're playing at the moment it's not going short of manure.....

Interesting point you make CF and one I was pondering on today. Go back to last May.. We'd won just two games since the start of the year, the vast majrority of us thought we would be relgeation fodder this year, nothing changed in our minds with the appointment of a new unproven management team and it was only the recruitment of the likes of Phillips and Harris that changed our mind. Our early season status flattered to decieve as we got the games in and the others didn't and so here we are: Where we thought we would be...
We've been in decline for a couple of seasons, and that won't change overnight. No matter who's in charge. Rudge hasn't presided over this decline, he's simply been man enough to take the job, and (in hindsight) on that basis deserves our support - No matter where we sit in the league.
