The Season...

So, the time has come to draw a line under our season and firstly I just want to thank our wonderful board, manager, players and fans for an amazing season. Its been a true pleasure to share the terraces with you fine bunch again and whatever our opinions and sometimes personal feelings toward one another... we all bleed blue at the end of it all. Well what a year it's been, some great players bought in pre season with big expectation... did we exceed it? Probably not but I feel we certainly made another good account of ourselves and proved nobodies bitch when it came down to it (didn't see the game at Twerton Park, hands were in my head so it didn't count). Arguably robbed of a glamourous tie with Portsmouth in the FA Cup (For all at Maidenhead, you will certainly understand) but in moments of adversity once again this team proved how spirited and how solid it can be. Kicking on to secure another season in NLS is a big achievement. Big points occasionally taken from us in the cruelest of fashion. Bath, Woking at home, Welling away instantly spring to mind. And some huge results, the double over the Champions, and those pretenders from Essex who certainly won't be relishing coming to our place again next year. Gaffer has done superb in a situation completely not his fault. Big injuries that have hampered contract players will be a big, BIG terrace talking point but ultimately in this league, if you have talent not on contract it can almost certainly be worse.. with players abilities being stronger and other clubs including the EFL clubs constantly monitoring talent at this level it's better that they are pinned down and the club benefit. These are risks but it's the level we are at now. I for one am very proud of our little town once again, our football club might not be massive but it's strong. Let's really get behind these lads next season, back our board, our gaffer and our players. If you're coming to the game, bring a pal, bring the kids, get them to bring their friends, talk about Chippenham at work, whatever it takes to drag that attendance up to the 700/800 home fans we so desire. Its not a coincedence these so called big clubs have a good fan base as well as a good set up. Its all support, we aren't blessed like some teams with the luxury of having "Nothing better" around us, but if every one dragged one pal along at Hardenhuish Park it doesn't take a genius to work out we would double our home attendance. The boys deserve that. To the players staying and the players who will surely depart. Thank you as just a humble supporter for all your efforts this year, every blade of grass covered, goal scored, injury accrued in the name of the cause. And a personal thanks to the gaffer for all his support of us this year being a real go to and always having time to shake every hand. Its touches like that make a class act and a non league team so much more endearing to the romantic football fan that loves nothing more than to be a part of something special. Well done again to us all. It's Chippenham Town FC, it's our club and we are mighty proud of it. #BlueArmy #TilIDie

Re: The Season...

Almost laughable that you try to encourage fans to bring their kids given the amount a swearing you do behind the goal.
Against Torquay its was embarrassing, rather than chanting to encourage our team, you seem intent on slagging off the opposition the whole game.

Re: The Season...

Oh Wellard.. there’s always one isn’t there lol. Yes me all by myself, there swearing behind a goal all on my lonesome. Just because I stand with the more vocal section of the crowd and don’t shy away from the odd “naughty” chant means once again we are back to this derogatory kind of comment. You’re right Torquay was a shocking game, nothing but negative comments have been made by people about our support that day. Maybe we should all be more like you

Given that I know people are staying away due to the constant swearing behind the goal and that we have cut the budget due to income, then maybe yes they should be more like me. A more family environment can only encourage people to come and stay.
Swearing chants do nothing to encourage regular attendance or those floating fans to come back.

Re: The Season...

But if everyone were like you Wellard who would be left to re-populate the world? I can't imagine it would last long if the whole place was full of snowflakes and people that flip their biscuit over a little naughty language in the occasional chant...

Also as a quick side note, what happens if CTFC as a complete rule of thumb never again tolerated a naughty word uttered. Would we throw out every away support that came to the ground? Would we eject staff, officials, managers, players, board members and every other person who if they are completely honest with themselves have never uttered a naughty word in the heat of the moment... I mean of course taunting opposition fans is a completely Chippenham concept and you never hear it elsewhere in the slightest. I am not taking the mick (much) just wondering as to your thoughts on how you would tackle the biggest issue in football today.... those supporters who mock the opposition fans and players.
