Park 1 0 Calne (match abandoned midway through second half)
All kicked off after the break. Calne player stretchered off after an accidental clash of heads. A player from each side sent off for fighting. The fight obviously continued in the tunnel as spectators were left agog as most of the players leapt the wall and disappeared down the tunnel. Rumour in crowd that match had been abandoned, a few minutes later the referee and players emerged onto pitch, officials chatted to a couple of Calne players for a minute or so then the ref blew his whistle and pointed to the tunnel and we all trooped home.

Love the away game V's Calne this season but their assistant was a bit of a tosser. Wouldn't surprise me if he was involved.

I must say, as a keen follower of Swindon and Chippenham I was quite appalled to witness what I did tonight. A game played in good spirits, which park took the deserved league after our young lads played some great football will be overshadowed when the substitute took only 2 minutes to let his team down by now only being shown a red card, but to storm into the oppositions changing room and start what could have easily turned into a riot. The Calne players on the pitch were straight down the tunnel to no doubtubly protect their player but a big scuffle (which I saw little of) followed and the referee decided to abandone the game for whatever reason.
As an established national league side, Chippenham must take a harder look into this as this does not look good. At Chippenham Park we have a squad full of good young players who have a bright future but incidents like this can instantly ruin the good reputation the club has worked so hard to get in a matter of minutes. Not the ending anyone wanted to see tonight. I hope he never puts a Chippenham shirt on again.

Big fine coming for both clubs.

I was a long way from the incident but from my vantage point on the far side of the ground the initial 'coming together'of the two players didn't seem too serious - looked like a trip to me. Obviously the handbags came out and the referee sent the two off. I'm reliably informed one of the Calne players (ex-Park ironically, but a well known loose cannon) was continually goading Devon Bryan as he made his way to the tunnel. I then saw a lot of the players rush to the tunnel area where there was obviously a scuffle going on.
After a few minutes the players returned to the pitch - I'm told the referee initially was going to play on. He then seemed to have a change of heart and blew his whistle. Game over.
Now I'm not condoning the behaviour of the players in any way, but I can't help wondering if a stronger referee could have got the teams together, issued the necessary warning and got the game played to a finish. Until this flashpoint there wasn't any trouble, a fairly physical game but that's to be expected.
If Dev was to blame for the tunnel incident then he clearly won't play for Park again surely? They discard players for a lot less - but that's another story. ;-)

Just been looking at the Calne Town website and it says that this game as been re-arranged for Friday 19th April with a 3pm kick off - that should be interesting watching 2 games on the pitch at the same time!!!!
