Re: Wealdstone

I have already stated previously about contract players who are on big money and not featured this season. but on this occasion I think the problem to focus on is our inability to score goals, we haven't scored so far in March and therefore have not won. This is a problem, we are safe but if this had happened earlier as it did last season we would be involved in the relegation dog fight. People have stated on here that what we need to show is an improvement on last seasons finishing position. Well we are one place above we finished last year, improvement yes but not a significant one. A month ago we were just 3 points off the playoffs. Whats gone wrong ?

Re: Wealdstone

Having been to March games, we have created plenty of chances and goals have dried up, Jarvis our main threat looks a little tired.I have a feeling you are obsessed with relegation as you constantly go on about it, what right do we have not to be involved in a relegation battle? the bottom 5 all have been at this level for 3 seasons and more,Dulwich and above are all experienced clubs with history in the league. Did you expect us to go point for point over 42 games with Torquay Billericay Dartford Bath Wealdstone Welling Woking Chelmsford? I read various club forums and it is obvious to all the Conference South is at it's very  strongest.

Re: Wealdstone

Not obsessed with relegation just stating the facts, last 6 games 16 points dropped which would put us 3rd from bottom. So all I am saying is that if this sort of form came earlier in the season then we would be in the relegation mix. I don't expect us to win every game but there are games in those six that with the team in form we would have picked up all the points.

Re: Wealdstone

As said previously, we are having a dip in form, it happens and with our injuries I understand why, Ricay 4 straight losses with all the riches they have and if Hungerford had found this form earlier they would be in the top 4. See you at Thurrock

Re: Wealdstone

Cleanse of players on big contracts, especially those that have barely played (Yan) and players who don't look to be arsed (Compton). Spend the money elsewhere.

Re: Wealdstone

For minutes on the pitch Yan must be the most expensive player in the National league south.

Re: Wealdstone

I'm pretty sure we've got Yan for another year, with the option of a third year if he makes a certain number of appearances next season !! How a guy of his build and physique can get injured so often, then out for such long periods is a worry. What are people's thoughts on additions/leavers to the squad over the Summer ? In my opinion we have had 2 years at this level to adjust to the pace/skill levels, and I think we have done OK. However, next season I feel we need to kick-on somewhat, and actually stake a claim as one of the better teams at National South level. I think the management team need to look at bringing in a proven goal-scorer (a rare and precious commodity I know) or two, and a quality midfield general. I hope Curtis will be fit for next year, as we have missed his experience big time since the start of the New Year.

Re: Wealdstone

Are you about to finance these deals then Tony, proven goalscorer s at this level cost, two more to play alongside Jarvis I presume.

Re: Wealdstone

Good point Blueboo, but I would think possibly some of the higher earners who are not let's say having the impact we thought they would, may move on in the close season if their contracts are up, thus freeing up funds for my 'wish list'. Could the management team  consider Sol Davis from Swindon Town, who I know is on loan at BCFC until the end of the season, on say a season loan next year ?

Re: Wealdstone

I think you may mean Sol Pryce Toyboy?  Sol Davis is/was a fullback - a bit long in the tooth now I reckon

A contract is a contract - I'm not sure if Compton has another year or not, but it has to be honoured one way or the other, whatever the duration.  You only have to look at his playing record to see that he's hardly likely to qualify for a testimonial with any club

There's bound to be some comings and goings in the summer - it'll be interesting to see how we progress from our current mid-table position.  We've hit a bit of a wall it seems, with the lack of goals, but to have secured our status with plenty to spare is a significant improvement on last season and should be applauded.
