Re: v Bideford

Goodness, my comments on Stu Joslins 'Secret Podcast' back in December seem so long ago now, no wins since then and from afar I have to back the view that this isn't working.

From being x place from the playoffs, we stand 8 point above the drop zone having played more games than those behind us. That said , only Redditch could catch us, and GD -17 already? I dont see it likely.

So... Despite my initial shock and despair at yesterday's result. I still think he's got till the end of the season - Provided he has the dressing room, and I can't comment on that.

Re: v Bideford

Negative-

Interesting readings before and i agree Saturday was very very poor. It looked as though when Bideford shot it would go in. I dont know whats wrong with Steve Casey Toby Osman and Johns at the moment but Johns isnt the same player when he first signed for us and Knighton. This is the same players that won 3 games on the trot (Totton Kettering St Albans) and now look as if there playing with the world on there shoulders. (Harris please grow up and help your team mates)

Positive-
But i might get stick for saying this but lets give the boys a chance they had a good cup run and not long ago were x points outside the play offs but like Rudge put in the G&H he has been in charge 20 odd games and is Chippenham through and through , he hates losing (Believe me he was sat behind me all game) and it doesnt help having directors shouting there mouth off .
LOYAL Chip fans will know where im coming from , we can either turn up tomorrow night and slag them all off or all get behind the attacking goal (Like Bideford , Frome fans ) and be vocal for them and help them otherwise if it ends up like Saturday we could get a hiding.
lm prepared to leave my seat in the stand and get behind the goal and support my home town and lets push these guys to at least a point if not three.
Big ask i know but not long ago we all said were in it together.
See you tomorrow night
Andy

Re: v Bideford

Had the ball not hit the post in the first couple of minutes at Cheltenham against Gloucester City and instead went in, and of of course we were able to hold on, Nathan would have written himself into our history as only the third ever manager in 139 years to take us into the 1st round proper and the only one to lead us out against league opposition. Sadly, it was another case for CTFC of so close and yet so far away.

From the outside there's no way of knowing where the fault rests; with Nathan, the players or a combination of the two.

Its easy to support your team when they're doing well. Tuesday will be as much of a test of our committment, as it will the player's.

Re: v Bideford

I would imagine everyone who turns up on Tuesday, and unfortunately I can't see it will be that many, will do so to get wholeheartly behind the team. But the team ( and management) have to show that they are worthly of that support. If you are beaten by a better team and you play to the best of your ability then no complaints. But given the last two games where we were outplayed by teams that were no more than solid honest teams then the fans support has to be earned and the only way of doing that is to put in a decent performance and not necessarily a winning one.

Re: v Bideford

Nothing to add in respect of what has already been said. There are 2 posts I could comment on but I suspect best not too!
We were extremely lucky to finish the match with 10 players as Johns was clearly seen to kick a bideford player laying along the goal line following the 2nd goal - from where I was standing everyone around me was saying "he's off he's got to go for that" - the mystery is that the linesman had a clear view andwas consulted about the validity of the goal. Maybe we were let off and it was considered that losing a controversial goal was punishment enough.

What was up with Harris? Not good on predictions but this time my " he will be sent off before long" was spot on. He had clearly lost it early on and I was amazed to see him have a go verbally at the Bideford no2 having just scythed him down - the no 2 did not complain but Harris thought it ok to have a go at him. The lauguage he later directed at the linesman was also totally out of order and the referree would have been witin his rights to have dismissed him for fouland abusive language. Yes it is a mans game played by men but nobody should be expected to face that level of abuse. Harris is a very good player but not when he loses his cool and he is no good sat in the stand when suspended.
I thought Bideford showed us how the game can be played and their speed and accurate passing was a joy perhaps we are more "physically" motivated rather than trying to play football?

I will be there on Tuesday - nobody gave me a guarantee of success when I bought my season ticket however a bit of spirit would be nice even in defeat. We have been poor in the past but this is the first time I can say that we lack spirit.

Sorry Andy, I am going to give you stick for your comments

How many chances do you want to give them, look at the last 8 or 9 games, how many goals have we scored, how many have we won? Appreciate that they HAD a good cup run but how often do we want to keep playing that same old record of "if only this..." or "if only that...". We may have been x points outside of the play offs but anybody looking at that side knew it wasn't good enough for the play offs.

I didn't hear the interview that Rudge gave when he mentioned players not turning up for training but surely somebody needs to get to the bottom of this in order to find out where the problems are. Looking at the body language of the players over the last few weeks they look clueless with no pattern of play something that has to be down to the management and the buck stops with Rudge. He may hate losing but there's slightly more to being a football manager.

As for directors not being allowed to voice their opinions, get real. They're fans too and have a far greater right to voice their views than you or I. They put large amounts of money into the club so why shouldn't they have a view, they simply want what we all want, an entertaining football team to watch. The more successful the team is the more people who come through the gates so the less they're asked to contribute.

The only way Rudge will leave is if we pay off his contract, what is it with us and giving managers contracts, didn't we learn anything from Perrin!!

We can and will shout our heads off tomorrow night but if they serve up another performance like the last couple of weeks do they deserve our support, we give it to them every week no matter how unappreciated it is.

P.S

Shouldn't Scott Lye be on your list of negatives? That's based on the last year or two not just this season.

Re: v Bideford

Plenty of comment, and all pretty much along the same lines.  The thing about following your local club is you learn to take everything on the chin and move on.  I have to admit to feeling the lowest I've ever felt walking out of the ground on Saturday, and I've been knocking about Hardenhuish Park since pre-school days 50 years ago, but now the dust has settled I'm looking forward to the Hemel game.  Masochistic maybe, but I'm not a bandwagon jumper, and the true fans will be there tomorrow.   COYB!
