Standing near two WSM supporters at 1-0 moaning about how crap we were and that our no6 centre-half was useless ('a s**thouse') and said player then scored 2 minutes later.

I think they turned up expecting to win and that was their undoing. They had enough chances in the first half but didn't finish them - arguably we defended well but luck played a part too.

We didn't play exceptionally well and the same slow build up afflicted the play but sometimes you get the luck you deserve. A rare home win and worth celebrating except Bath also won 0-2. A win there on Monday would cement the season

They certainly looked hungrier and snappier than we did in the first half.  And we did ride our luck. It was obvious though  at the start of the second half, just how much the wind strength played a significant part in helping the team playing up the slope.  With the wind behind us, we suddenly looked much more like our old selves ( the "good" selves) and starting stringing some slick, quick attacks together .. although with little bite at the end of them. WsM suddenly looked the more pedestrian side and we the more inventive and enterprising.  Poetic justice came in the form of Luke Haines'  deadball strike, that was delayed by some yellow card antics from their 2 man wall.. who then  proved completely ineffective in keeping his low shot heading goalwards., We managed the last half hour pretty well and were more combative than of late. The  excellent counter-attacking goal, courtesy of Harry Parsons and Luke Spokes gave us the deserved win... and an important one in terms of  what looked like a depressingly flat, anti-climactic end to the season.
Despite some resolute defence from the usual lynch-pins, i thought most had a good game.. particularly Caine, who seems to have stepped up the aggression and  assumed much more authority  lately...  Matt McClure -made some telling passes, Luke Spokes  looked more like his old self again.  Having been a little sceptical about Harlee Vozza's selection... I thought he did pretty well, too.  Bookings aplenty... but a clean game, generally well officiated. Feel very sorry for Tony. The March/ April drought has played havoc with the grass and playing surface generally. No doubt a wet summer will restore it to its usual bowling green  condition.
