GAW's Message 23/04/14

I find it a shame that people are allowed the freedom to post such messages
on a website! I believe that it should be removed.

Re: GAW's Message 23/04/14

Why do you find it a shame? I'm voicing my personal opinion as a supporter. I fully support the team and individual players and I would even like to see the majority of the team to stay on for next season. Having said that, I just find the immature behaviour from Ben John appalling, and it's not only disrespectful to the supporters, but also his fellow team mates.

Was the message libellous? No.
Was the message offensive? No.
Was the message insulting? No.
Did the message contain foul language? No.

For heaven's sake this is a fan's forum. The OP is expressing an opinion. Mr Peter K Farrell obviously doesn't share it. So what? Is that a reason to ban/remove it? Get a grip!

Freedom of speech is one thing my grandparents fought for, I'm afraid your rose tinted view on life is quite frankly embarrassing. If you don't like it then tough...

My Answers
1/ I do not know - I am not a solicitor, but possibly there
could be a case for libel or slander (off-hand I do not know
which is which)
2/ I would think the player could be offended
3/ I think it was insulting to the player and, possibly, the club
4/ I agree.

I would have had less to say if GAW had put his true name
to the piece. If it is really a 'fan's forum', then people should
always put their true names. Just say, if 'GAW' applies for a
season ticket, as a fan, in the name of GAW and with no
address, I think that his application would be declined.

I am the same with newspapers when letters are signed
'name and address supplied'. It's what I call 'Power without
Responsibility',

Why do you think football clubs are advised by the authorities
to have no association with fans websites?
