Re: Slough

I dont think it was a particularly weaker "B" team picked - maybe less experienced but all first team. With an eye on both academy and first team in cup games Fri & Sat that makes sense. We lost the midfield battle - Gunner in particular struggled to take control whereas in the last couple of home games he's seemed fitter and more confident to me and has been making a great partnership alongside Russe. Slough just a few older, wiser heads able to 'play' the referee and we didn't adjust to that. We did come out very strong at the start of the second half after another slow first half and needed to score in that first 10 minutes after the break. They soaked that up and then after a period of sustained pressure knicked the goal that would have sealed the game for either side. Mention must be made of two superb saves by Will Henry in the second half which meant a 0-1 loss rather than what would have felt like a 0-3 thrashing.

If the academy and the first team progress to next round in the cup this weekend all this will be forgotten for a while, but disappointing to lose the unbeaten home record for sure.
