I know it's all a matter of opinion, but how on earth can a referee be "quite possibly the worst ref we have had all season", whilst at the same time "don't blame it on the ref, he was good?" There are times when comments such as these make me shake my head in dispair.

It certainly is a matter of opinions! I'll go in the middle regarding the ref. At times he seemed right on the ball but at other times lack of consistency. For example James gets booked, and rightly so, for a late tackle which was his first foul and therefore wasn't booked for constant fouling and then a few minutes later he gets fouled, again a late tackle and the Hitchin player doesn't get booked! But overall I didn't think he did too bad.
As to the performance awful all over the place and noone seemed to know what they were doing. Too many of our players who for most of the season have put in good performances had their worst games yesterday. Pitch was in a poor state but that can't excuse some of the terrible passing we witnessed. Hitchin's number 7 caused problems down the wing every time he got the ball. Showed what you can achieve by playing wide players which again yesterday we lacked. Lost count of the number of times the wings were just wide open spaces as far as we were concerned.
