sound the alarm

Capitulate in the cup against a club at the foot of the league above, poor league form....

Time for the club to take a long look at itself. I know Rome wasn't built in a day but we haven't started digging the foundations. The worst thing about this result was the predictability of it. The days when we had a team that could raise it's game are long gone.

Re: sound the alarm

Final Score, Chip 0 Hemel 5. We offered very little up front and the chances we made were wasted by not having a striker on the pitch. Midfield offered little and the back line crumbled as game went.

Re: sound the alarm

We did ok until 0-3 in fact I would say we were on top in first half - 2 silly gift goals were the undoing. After that there was no way back. We made plenty of chances but couldn't finish any. A few lack confidence at the moment - Beeden particularly IMO

Re: sound the alarm

We actually played some good football today but are lacking up front.  That was the major difference.  Smith my MOM.  Onwards and upwards, with at least one forward hopefully through the door this week.

Re: sound the alarm

Hemels away form wasnt that bad.Once again the approach play was the best part of our game.We all know that if you dont score goals  you dont win games. Why did we have two forwards on the bench. If Pawley is fit why not play him,Simpson seemed to be protecting his arm.Thought ballie and fergi tried their hardest and deserve credit for their efforts.Guthrie seems to have lost his way in the last two games. At least we kept on trying to play football to the end, shame some fans left early.Hopefully tuesday night things might be better and the game is taken seriously not like last season.

Re: sound the alarm

Some interesting points raised, have to take issue with George, the foundations are slowly being laid. We've a decent goalkeeper, the defence, with the exception of Beedon who had a mare, looks more secure. Not totally sure about the diamond but upfront is where we're struggling and this is where some questions should be asked.
Grff, Philiips aren't getting any younger so why wasn't anyone younger brought in to gain experience. Thought Ben Prang was the bright young hope yet he's disappeared off to join his brother at Corsham, would have thought he was a better bet than Pawley.
Why is Pawley here, if he's not good enough to start when we're so short of strikers why keep him?
Appreciate it's hard to get a striker but wasn't the plan (seems a long time ago now) to bring up players through the ranks via Park, surely even having a natural striker on the bench/starting is better than we've currently got.
Felt Hemel moved the ball a lot quicker and more accurately than us (they didn't play many aimless long balls and those they did they scored from) and by closing down the base of our diamond so quickly we lost possession quickly. Maybe matching them in midfield would have helped.
Think it'll the same old story, too good to go down but not good enough to go up.
Roll on Tuesday
