Re: Chippenham vs hungerford

Some of the squad ain't good enough but that's what we got and we just need to get on with it

Re: Chippenham vs hungerford

Apart from their goal, I don't think either keeper had a direct shot to save?  Very poor game.  Too many of ours had an off day (Guthrie looked well out of sorts) and we were always going to struggle having to play Bally and Sir Alex up front against those two lump-it's.  They had too much for us physically, and were very adept at squealing like pigs at the first hint of contact.  Disappointing but not the end of the world.  When you consider two of their un-used subs were former Swindon first teamers and we weren't outplayed by any stretch of the imagination then we'll be ok, as long as we can get near to full strength.  Fair play to Coupey for playing, he was clearly not running comfortably from the start, but it goes to show there's a real desire there.

Re: Chippenham vs hungerford

Sadly Chip resorted to the long ball game again, and that was our undoing. Keeper hoofed the ball upfield every time and with the size of our front men, we lost every single challenge that was when a challenge went in. We were second to every tackle, we were well short yesterday.  Full marks to Coupe, for geeing the lads along even when he was in so much pain. The midfield were too deep, and often just bypassed by the long ball. Roll on the Ciren game, and start playing a passing game once more.

Re: Chippenham vs hungerford

Just read the report in the on the wilts gazette web site. Why play not fully fit players when more than ample cover on the bench. If all had the will to win like tindle the season looks promising.I like most would take where we are at the end of August.Hope the support keeps up for the forthcoming home games.Think we are the 6th best home supported at the moment.

Re: Chippenham vs hungerford

Poor game, with neither side really offering much.

It's funny how football can change your view of somebody, but I hated Coupe when he used to play against us, but when coming off the pitch he bothered to talk to the fans and said that the team would be better on another day.

It didn't matter what he said, but I got the impression he was genuinely bothered about what the supporters thought about the performance.

Not a bad bloke after all and when fit, will be a good asset at our level.
