Hereford, odds and site

The directors of the southern league are getting flak on other forums. Apparently only 3 directors decided to let Hereford in the league, and after saying the Bulls were not under a transfer embargo they have now changed their minds and said they are. How can Hereford possibly fulfil their opening day fixture. Looks like the SL will be one short again. The odds are out for SL only three clubs below us including Hereford. As an aside anyone know where the official SL site can now be found

This looks like they are really struggling to make up numbers for the coming season:

Re: Hereford, odds and site

Statement on Southern league web site today, Hereford have paid their creditors and will start the league in the Southern Premier!! Salisbury are still taking legal action and appeals to remain in Conference South, but court hearing not until later this week, with season 2 weeks away. Absolute farce how do these clubs get away with it.

Re: Hereford, odds and site

I've just taken a look at the official statement on the Southern League website regarding the HUFC, and the Chairman certainly appears to be having a right old go at the HUFC supporters who have been posting threats and sending emails to the SL for even considering allowing HUFC to start the season under the new ownership at the club. I then took a look at the HUFC Forum, and the venom currently being posted on there is quite frigtening to be perfectly honest. There is mention of their fans trust (HUST) actually visiting away grounds on the days HUFC are due to play there, and cause as much disruption as possible to make their feelings known. Are these the sort of people we want a Hardenhuish Park next season  ??

And they have survived another winding up order this morning - postponed until September 1st by when the league will be several games old

Re: Hereford, odds and site

Hereford fan here, in peace. I am not sure where super sweeper has the impression that HUST members etc will be turning up to away grounds to cause disruption. I would also temper against believing what the SL Chairman has said about threats etc, as I do not believe a word that comes out of his mouth. We have concerns over a number of issues, regarding the management of the SL. Firstly, why have we been granted a place in the competition when we STILL haven't paid all of our bills? Secondly, Mr Turner has refused to enter in to dialogue with anyone regarding these and other issues, including media looking in to the whole affair. Thirdly, why did Mr Mills make phone calls to creditors, presumably at the behest of the current board at HUFC? Most tellingly, the first time our biard said they had paid creditors they sent a picture of cheques to the SL as proof, and they accepted this. The cheques were never sent. This is fraud and yet the SL did NOTHING about this.

From where I stand, the board of this competition are at best, not fit for purpose and seem to be hell bent on accepting the corpse of a once proud club, regardless of the machinations behind the scenes. If you want to look back at the goings on over the last two months or so try Bullsnews. Do not listen to anything from club sources or from the SL board. They are both an absolute disgrace.

I actually live about 10 miles from Hardenhuish, but like the majority of HUFC fans will not be visiting. Good luck for the season.

Re: Hereford, odds and site

T&J, thanks for coming here and giving us your take on the events at Edgar Street. Ever since Ronnie Radford's goal against Newcastle in 1972, I've always had a bit of a soft spot for HUFC. I've been to Edgar Street a few times and always enjoyed the unique atmosphere of a 'proper' football ground. I hope something workable comes out of what seems like a complete mess.

Re: Hereford, odds and site

My pleasure. We are hopeful that we will win this battle, that may well mean us reforming a couple of divisions lower, but rather that than this charade. With the players signed so far, HUFC are a dead certain for bottom spot!

Re: Hereford, odds and site

I understand your stance, but if you do change your mind, there's always a warm welcome at Hardenhuish Park for well behaved away fans.
