I'm 100% behind Collier. However if the board can attract someone of a similar standing i'd be behind him too.
Not that I was ever not behind Winter or Rudge, I just didn't really believe.

That's fair enough, I am not saying that collier is a bad manager and wouldn't do as you say he would.
My issue is that whilst saying he is your choice and he will keep us safe, surely even being realistic we should be setting our ambitions a little higher. If we had 5 games left and we needed to win 4 to stay up then yes. But in truth we have 33 league games left by my reckoning? 99 points for grabs so forgive me for wanting the club to have a little more foresight than a manager that will keep them safe.
In the past we have had safe options, just in my opinion time to say let's try something new and give the chosen one the time to put it all in to place. I am ready for it to get worse (if it can) before it gets better. Risk and reward strategy is the way I would like to see it go. The reality of it is we are not going to win the league this year so it has to go down as a year of development. That has to be the whole club and not just the first team on and off the pitch.
I don't really mind who it is as long as there is a long term plan/goal in taking the club forward. I just want to enjoy going to watch us play again. Something I've not done for a while, it ruins my weekend.
I for one though would like to say that the tough line approach the club/chairman has taken with the management and tindle situation has to be commended as finally we are seeing leadership from somewhere. Decisive, strong and quick just what we need at the back . I would like to see them do the same with an appointment of a manager although not to be rushed, they must have some idea?
Question is did collier go for the job last time? I haven't got a clue who was short listed last time and how many?

As I understand it those who made the shortlist last time were....
Mark Collier
Phil Bater
Lee Cook
Steve Winter
Of course given that they were turned down last time they may not be interested or want more money. Guess what it'll boil down to money, both wages and playing budget.

BBC Wiltshire has reported today that there have been 13 applications for the job so far

Correct Johnjo that was my first post. I am responding to the title of winter sacked after all it did make the BBC sport website!!
For the record i am a Collier fan. No shame in that....I mean lets look at the facts here.... Excellent CV, he has kept teams up with hardly any budget and even got teams promoted with small budgets, stats dont lie! The guy is a good manager and will bring in Tom Jones one of the best local coaches around.
I would like to pick up on your point of Collier being a safe choice....... Yes your right and thats exactly what he will do for Chippenham.. keep them safe!
I hope the club do the right thing. Look forward to seeing you all Saturday!
stop it mark.

Thats poor from you The Legend.... well so is your name so what do people on here expect.
By the sounds of it Collier will be there Saturday. I for one hope the club have a change in form and whoever is in charge i hope they bring back a few smiles to the ground because once again effort and attitude on Saturday wasnt up to it.
New ideas and maybe new faces needed!

I'm sure I saw Mark sitting in front of me when we beat Frome away (first Hitler video) - clear that he was interested then and I'm sure the club was too.
I don't think it was wrong of the board to give Steve Winter a try - after all we were doing OK-ish then (better than now) and it was widely reported that the players were keen to let him have a go at the job. I'd assume a cheaper option for us if it had worked out, which you cannot dismiss. I hope the terms of his contract don't give any comeback, as on holiday or not, they had to do something after the 9-0 loss on the back of other poor results. If as reported he was on a 40th birthday holiday - I'd imagine that was booked well in advance (possibly even before he took the job) and timing coincides with school half-term dates which is probably relevant. So should be no complaints about his lack of commitment by being on holiday, nor that he lost his post whilst away - just good media stories for a reporter.
I hope Mark can turn things around so that we are not just looking at clinging on for survival - not expecting miracles, just a bit more self-belief and confidence, plus a few new faces if we can find them.
