Retained Players + New signings

https://chippenhamtown.com/message-from-the-manager/

Well, as soon as the forum starts getting restless, the club comes out with something. Bit disappointing it's not an actual announcement of anything, but basically saying we will reveal a few retained players/new signings in the coming days. Good to hear.

I see that Fasanmade has joined Salisbury, what are your thoughts in that? He rejected a new and improved deal.

I think we will be able to find a less injury prone and better footballer. However Fas was a top lad and always gave his all so all the best to him.

Re: Retained Players + New signings

Very very disappointed to loose Fas. Probably one of the quickest players in the division. Defenders hate real pace. He must have been a real handful to mark. Probably didn’t score as many goals as he should have. But that may have come. Salisbury have the cash. Unlikely we could match. Difficult to replace type player. Would have been very high on my list to retain. But if players want away for a higher wage what can you do. 😩

Re: Retained Players + New signings

Thought there was a bit of potential in Fas - quick, willing to run in behind and could attack any crosses into him. However was often isolated up front last season and when McClure started games was mostly shifted wide. As always at this level, expect there are a few reasons including football ones why he has moved on. Good luck to him - always put in a shift.

Re: Retained Players + New signings

Would've liked to keep him, worked hard, rapid but not irreplaceable (Harry Parsons back maybe?).

Says nothing but positive things about chippenham in his interview to be fair and has said him going to Salisbury is because his partner lives there and they've both finished university.

Good to see our player of the season Will Henry signed on though.

Re: Retained Players + New signings

Heard today that Harry Parson, Luke Spokes and Cain Bradbury have all signed. Not sure on Holloway, Haines and McClure.
A good trails day last Saturday with a few to watch out for.

Some sensible reasons documented above, but maybe he got fed up playing as a lone striker, very often up against a pair of big centre-backs!

Parsons signing was flagged up on the Weymouth forum on April 25th.

Re: Retained Players + New signings

Well!! A surprise to see Matt McClure having another season with us.  I'd assume his distant home ( Hertfordshire?) would probably make his decision for him.  A quality player who, hopefully will develop a productive partnership with Harry Parsons, and one where he spends a bit more time in the opposition box and  doesn't have to track so far back to get possession. Hopefully, we have yet to see the best of him.
