Looking forward to this one,we will have to play at our best today to get anything from this game. Leamington are a tough team, there should be a few extra people in the ground today with a large number of travelling Leamington fans expected. Lets hope a better atmosphere inspires our ladds to play at the high tempo we will need.Lets get behind our team and push them on in our battle with relegation. Good luck to Nathan, Rich and the boys. Cum on you blues.

One by one they are picking us off.

Had a scan on the Leamington forum, and whilst you can understand that they are unhappy that the game was called off late, we are getting the accusation that 'we wanted it off' 'four players missing' - The usual stuff that all of us trot out when a game gets called off late.
However. Given that we have the most reliable drainage known to man, is it true we made no attempt to fork it?
Is it true that the rain stopped at 3ish?
I recall a 20 minuite delay against Falmouth in the FA Cup for a torrential downpour - although that actually occured during the game rather than before it. The Falmouth team could not afford the return trip for any rescheduled game.
Are my recollections also correct that the game has to be over by a certain time on a Saturday - 5.30PM springs to mind, thus even the Falmouth game would have been called off if it were still raining at the deadline. In other words we have to have a deadline at which point the decision must be made.
EDIT: Just seen the pic on the official site which does seem to show the most waterlogged pitch I've ever seen at Hardenhuish.

It didn't look great with 15 minutes to kick off, the rain was still lashing down. There was a lot of surface water hanging on the area in front of bar were the players have previously trained. The ref and his team were on the pitch for a long time, he seamed to be reporting to what appeared to be an assessor on the side the pitch, it looked like the game would go ahead, but a few minutes later there was a lot of head shaking and the game was off. Who knows if any one from Chippenham influenced the decision, but with four first team regulars missing who could blame them. I do know that if Leamington were in the same postion they would have been trying to get the game off, no disrespect to Leamington it's just professionalism. By the time the game is rearranged and they revisit they will probably have rapped up the title. I'll bet the chairman was unhappy with Chippenham having to pay the travelling sides expenses. Ahh well roll on the Totton game next sat.

Calling the match off because of a rain soaked pitch is presumably done for health and safety reasons to prevent players getting injured. However, as we all know, players get injured on the best of surfaces and sometimes when they're not even being challenged. If you've ever watched the re-runs of The Big Match you'll have seen how in the 1960's, 70's and 80's games were played in atrocious conditions. Most fans just want to see a match played regardless of the condition of the pitch, particularly the visiting supporters. The conditions after all are the same for both teams.
