Contracts

One thing I'm trying to get my head round in recent years, is why do we let players come and go like they come through a turnstile? In recent years, players have signed for Chippenham in every month of the year, and some players have gone at the most random times!

Why does this happen? Whether they're good or not, the manager/staff have taken a player on for the simple reasons of them playing for the club. There are too many to name, but why have we let our players go willy nilly at the most weirdest time of the season?! What happened to the good old January window when it's traditional to let them go or get new players in. Loan players on the other hand are different, I can understand that, as Parent clubs have a right them to send them out on loan to us whenever they please.

Why is it so difficult to draw up a simple contract saying that we signed a player on 01/08/12 and he is then contracted to playing for that particular club until 01/01/13 OR 01/05/13. Even if the player is not getting paid, they should be committed to the club and that's the club both parties have agreed upon. If I was manager of a football club, first things first, get the player CONTRACTED as it can unsettle the team releasing players, getting new players in every other month and get in the state we find ourselves in now. UNLESS both parties mutually agree to terminate that contract then they are free to leave the club and go elsewhere to play.

IF a player does NOT turn up to training or matches then surely the management and the club officials have every right to sue the player for breach of contract, as it is a binding agreement.

What is the point of week-to-week contracts? Unless the player you've signed on those terms have a good chance of being a short one, why not try Parent clubs who have unlimited resources of reserve/youth players to be loaned out to us.

I also can not see the point of letting clubs loaning or releasing out their players to other clubs in the same league, I find that to be completely stupid.

Re: Contracts

Must admit that I'm a bit bemused by the comings and goings this season and I've lost track of how many loanees there are. In general I agree with your sentiments but regarding the training issue I gather its moved from Hardenhuish Park to somewhere near Bristol which could be interpreted as the club breaking a contract. Its probably OK for a stereotypical footballer with a sports car but for anyone who uses public transport after work pretty difficult.
