Re: Lewis Powell to return (Gazette & Herald link)

Insideleft's comments add substance to a story I heard recently regarding the 'managements' view on Griffs role within the team in that he doesnt represent the way they want to play, which if true I find a bit bizzare. Player of the year to exit just doesnt make sense.

Re: Lewis Powell to return (Gazette & Herald link)

Didn't he fancy any of the films on show then?  :-)

Hungerford was a potential move I heard - he could have teamed up with Spud again.

Re: Lewis Powell to return (Gazette & Herald link)

According to the Gazette Frome have confirmed they have put in an approach to us for Griffin.

Lord V posts Insideleft's comments add substance to a story I heard recently regarding the 'managements' view on Griffs role within the team in that he doesnt represent the way they want to play, which if true I find a bit bizzare. Player of the year to exit just doesnt make sense. Wonderful stuff from our esteemed management team if correct especially as they seem to play the same way whether he is in the team or not!! I have lost count of the number of games where Knighton has been up front and the ball is lobbed high and long to him without any chance of winning it against the normal mountain centre backs you get in the Southern League.
Maybe Rudge has forgotten how many times Griff carried the team last season ( and a few games this season). Never less than 100% effort and at this point in the season you need players who will run themselves into the ground for you not them walk off to one of your relegation rivals.

At least Griff could walk to us rather than Powell who would have to hobble to you

Re: Lewis Powell to return (Gazette & Herald link)

Powell will make a miraculous recovery the moment he signs.

As for Griff, you only have to trawl the internet forums to see that most other supporters rate him as a standout player in our side. Didn't Powell toss his toys out of the pram because of all the plaudits Griff got a couple of seasons back? Thats gonna work isn't it.
Anyway. The management call the shots, they're the ones who get the chop when it goes wrong. Or do they.

Re: Lewis Powell to return (Gazette & Herald link)

See latest on G & H is that Rudgy is denying Griff moving to Frome - sincerely hope so. Couldn't understand that he didn't have a chance to show what he can do last Saturday. As said elsewhere If you go on other teams forums Griff is the player who gets the praise. He never gives up - you get the full 100% and he is good at his defensive duties when needed. You do get the feeling that his face doesn't fit but I can think of far more preferable departures than his and you can read into this statement whatever you choose.

Re: Lewis Powell to return (Gazette & Herald link)

Forcing Griff out, if this is the case, is a bad move, particularly if he ends up at Frome scoring goals. Griff's commitment to the cause has never been in question and it must be soul destroying for him to find himself on the bench when he's done nothing wrong.
