Lincoln City

Well the highest placed team we have faced competitively in my recollection. A team looking to establish themselves in league 1, with ambitions to get to the Championship in the next few years. Cup runs are massively important to their finances. Let’s not kid ourselves we are massive underdogs. Whatever team they put out they should beat us easily.
Looking at their form they don’t concede many goals. They don’t score many either. I expect them to make wholesale changes. They have Accrington on Tuesday and following their game against us, they are away to Bristol City in the Cup. Can’t see them travelling back to Lincoln to be back this way Tuesday?
They will bring fringe players because they have a very demanding schedule. TBH I’m not confident that Chippenham can go toe to toe with any Lincoln side. I watch League One regularly and Chippenham can’t win.
But we will give in a go? If we can stay in the game, win a few tackles and take the ball in to their territory. Win the crowd over and begin to believe!
Even if we eventually lose, but give them a game I for one will be happy!

Re: Lincoln City

Lincoln fan here, Black and amber, looking forward to coming down on Saturday week, Mark Kennedy will treat you with the upmost respect, would not like to predict what side we put out, but £41,000 is an incentive for a strong side to be put out. May start with a “weaker”side, with a strong bench, but frankly all our fringe players get to play on merit.
Played Pitsea at home last season, scraped it 1 - 0, back in 2017 under the Cowley’s when we got to the quarter finals as a National League side, putting out Ipswich, Brighton and Burnley, was a fantastic time for us Imps.
We have been on the end of too many upsets to take anything for granted, but shall we say I am quietly confident.
our form has picked up in the last few weeks unbeaten in 5 with only one goal conceded and that was a gift to Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday.
So looking forward to a decent day out and should you get a draw, you will get a warm welcome in Lincoln for the replay.
Enjoy your day but not too much lol.

Re: Lincoln City

Hi Eric Imp - great to hear from you, and many thanks indeed for your thoughts on the ‘big game’, and no doubt many hundreds of Imps supporters will be made very welcome at the Thornbury Surfaces Stadium. If you get a chance visit the town, which is only 10 minutes walk from the ground for a brew or two ! Regarding the game, I think it will  depend on which CTFC team turns up on the day. We have had an indifferent start to the season, but who knows. I have visited your beautiful city many times, and my wife and I actually spent part of our honeymoon there. Looking forward to next Saturday.

Re: Lincoln City

I echo Toyboy's sentiment, re Eric Imp.  It's good not to be patronised. Let there be good blood and comradeship between us.

A few facts and figures about Lincoln City FC for perspective. Accounts for y/e  June 202 not very helpful as they are skewed by Covid. Bottom line, though: Loss for the financial year: £1.4 million.  Balance sheet: £1.8million. Wages & Salaries c. £5 million of which £3.2million were player wages (£62k per week).  High  earners on c  £200k plus  per annum.
So perspective-wise, CTFC's entire annual running costs (mid £300kI  believe) are equal to the annual wages of Dan Nlundulu, Lincoln's top earner in 2021-22, who was on loan with them for the first half of that season!!

Given the obvious gulf, we should lose and lose heavily, painful as it is to say it.  To alleviate that pain and with my Ladbroke's hat on I'm going to work on the following self-generated odds and put down a £5 stake: For the win: CTFC 1/10 against ( I'll donate £50 to the club if we win) Draw: 1/6 against ( I'll donate £30 for a draw) .  If we lose, then £10 for one goal; £25 for 2 or more.  Anyone else follow suit.. perhaps for different amounts? It's about as big a moment for the club that could currently  be imagined, so special and unusual pledges might be allowed for special times.

Re: Lincoln City

I'm just hoping for a lovely game of football, or a battle and make them work for it.

Lot of respect for Lincoln, they were in the National League not so long ago and if it wasn't for my beloved Blackpool they would have been a Championship side. I was chatting to a fair few Lincoln fans that day (socially distanced, eek) and they had a lot of respect for Blackpool fans.

Bring it on, it should be a great occasion for both clubs.

Our division is full of bull from some, would not patronise any club or their supporters, a club is its support, their result can either makes or break weekend.
In league one terms we don’t have the biggest support, but what we lack in numbers we make up for in passion and noise.
Barnsley fans said we were the noisiest they had, had at Oakwell this season.
Don’t take Saturday weeks result for granted, just before we played Bunley in the cup at Turf Moor, Danny Cowley said, people say it’s impossible, but impossible, is just an opinion.
So I have no doubt you will be treated with the upmost respect by LCFC, to ensure from our perspective we are not been discussed on the back pages for the wrong reasons.
Friendly rivalry is what it’s all about.

Re: Lincoln City

Eric thanks for your respectful comments. I really can’t wait for next weekend. I believe the game is getting close to a sell out!
Yes Crowley was a legend! It will be interesting to see what reception he gets when he comes to you in February! I think he is definitely taking Pompey places?
On a related note he played/managed Concord Rangers; a team Chippenham play today!
Good luck at Vale today, shall be watching tonight with interest!!

!

Really?! I would like to know the numbers.

What is our capacity for the home end and how many tickets have been sold to date? I went in yesterday and was dead

Re: Lincoln City

Capacity is 2000 for home supporters, I believe we’ve sold around 1300.  We’re never going to sell 2000 for a Saturday - would have got closer on a Sunday as per the Northampton game in my humble but not sure if we had much say in which day we play.
