"Shots in the Dark

Aldershot Academicians put a sizeable dent into Chippenham's League title ambitions in an entertaining, fast-paced game at the TSS last night. They, that is, AND  the linesman's flag that denied the home side a fine late winner.  Both sides scored their goals at the end of a period of dominance by the other; Chippenham gave away a stone-cold penalty after dominating the first 20 minutes, and in turn snatched one back after 35 just as  the Shots had begun to take control of the game.  Thereafter both sides had chances, CTFC made crucial substitutions and looked more and more threatening on the break.  The breakthrough, sadly, never came. Advantage Slough.. who put 7 past someone hapless ( Corinthian Reserves) and who have equally weak  Hartley Wintney for their final game while we face Bromley ( 22/04) who, with 5 games in hand, could easily come up on the rails and steal the title from both CTFC and Slough.

Two of His Lordship's observations:
For those who might get too carried away with the belief that Academy players can fill all the gaps in the Senior side... His Lordship, again, saw only one and possibly 2 CTFC  players who looked as if they might possibly step up ( no Ola and no Ethan last night). The most likely players looked to be the quick, mobile front runners who had the pace to alarm.  Aldershot had a couple of quality players on the pitch, too who we might well meet as Seniors in NLS next season.

Good and inspiring to see Chairman Neil on tea-urn duty at half time. Sums up everything that is good about the Club.  Kaldoon Al Mubarack in an apron  at the Etihad, anyone?   Amanda Stavely in Marigolds at St James' Park?  Abramovitch serving teas and coffees on a cold Tuesday night at a Chelsea U23 game?  Delia posibly at Norwich... but probably with a possee of photographers around her to mark the event. Another world.
