Re: St Albans.

Was not expecting a win today. Richards and Minturn at the back superb and the energy from the players today was something else, got some players with some real ability on the ball at the moment, need to keep it on the deck like in the first half to get the best out of them. Toss up between Santos (what a goal), Gunner and Minturn for MOTM.

Re: St Albans.

Excellent all round performance and Santos proved he can play after going missing last week.  Well done all.

Re: St Albans.

Stunning performance and a real response to the disappointment of the Tonbridge game. Long trips home always feel better with 3 points in the bag!! Another long trip to Chelmsford on Saturday. Hoping for a good result there as we cling to those playoff spots. Teams catching us up on games played and we are still knocking on the door. Up the Bluebirds!!

Re: St Albans.

On his contented return to the bosom of ************* Manor at 10.15 last evening, His Lordship was somewhat embarrassed to find Her Ladyship in the Main House's roofspace still wrestling  to replace  the cold-water tank ballcock... a job she had started at  5.15 pm.  Resolutely refusing all His offers of help and support,  which were only met with muffled, distant grunts,  he tactically withdrew to the Libarary (mercifully free of the sound of Her Ladyship's  violin)  to nurse a double Cognac and reflect on  the fine fare offered at the Hardenhuish Surfacing Ltd Park earlier that evening.....

His Lordship's Inexpert Analysis Number 11:

Overall:  the better side - by far - won - and won handsomely. The first half witnessed some of the best quality football His Lordship had seen at the ground  in recent memory; the second less so.

St Albans FC:  Looked very impressive in the ist 10-15 minutes.  Moved the ball well .. and were comfortable on it.  Got cut to ribbons for the next half hour.  Disappointingly,  didn't play to their strengths in the second half when they had the sniff of a comeback after their only goal.  Just petered out and lumped the ball in hit-and-hope style.  His Lordship wouldn't have wanted to have been their Manager in the last half hour; presumably, just forgot the basics.

CTFC:  A performance of remarkable quality in the first half; a perfect alliance of craft and intensity.  Defensively we were calm and rock solid with Young Minturn .. wise well beyong his tender years..  prepared to raid upfield when  the space opened up... while the front 3, feeding off the grafting and  the ball-winning work of the midfield,  worked their blue socks off chasing everything down and creating space for each other... which they succeeded in doing in abundance. Alefe's confidence is sky-high and his qualities a revelation;  Ola finds space everywhere thanks to his mobility and footballing brain.  Jordan Y, although resolutely left-footed, works really hard and sets up opportunity after opportunity with his speed and quick feet.  Never seen Young Hanks so hard-working.  He ran around like Road-Runner... ( aka Young Russe) Everyone pressed; everyone snapped at St Albans heels.  The second half couldn't live up to the first and for  a few moments we seemed to be letting SAFC back in... but we scrapped it out well and Young Alefe put the game beyond doubt with a dazzling strike before SAFC clawed one back.  Thereafter the ball spent more and more time in the air as SAFC resorted to lump it and chase it. In vain... thankfully.

Overall:  A great performance as well as an excellent result.  His Lordship's paradox (see Tonbridge Post) came true;  we do play better against the footballing sides.  Ball stayed on the ground throughout the first half... a tribute to both sides.  Interesting referee... let a lot go - which was refreshing and allowed the game to flow.  The one(?) booking appeared to be for the least offensive foul.  Well done to the Stand-side lino who got the offside/onside decision right for  our second(?) goal.... the ball came off an SAFC player His Lordship believes.  Well done to all!  ... including and especially Her Ladyship who has single-handedly restored running water to the house.. eventually.. through the agency of a blow-torch and  an avalanche of obscenities ( according to TBW, anyway... His Lordship was long asleep by then).

A great game to watch, whole team played well against a good St Albans side. Santos second goal was a cracker. Well done all.

Re: St Albans.

A great performance and win. Well done to players and staff. As HisLordship stated we play better against the 'better footballing' teams. This has been a feature of the whole season, leading to the inconsistencies of the results.

What was the attendance? Looking on the club website I can't find attendances for any of the games (unless I'm looking in the wrong places!)

Re: St Albans.

Well done to all  ,
the boys showed what they are capable of , in every way shape and form . They won the battle all over the park and showed they can all play football . The question is always asked about inconsistency ?  , you will always get this from young lads and maybe the reason they are not playing at a higher level  when they had their chance at professional clubs , which the majority of the boys have come from .
This is a fact of life and seems to be the case at this level especially with the boys having other jobs and different stresses , as everyone can see when teams can beat each other in this league .

Thought they were a brilliant well organised unit last night and kept a very good team at bay , a pleasure to watch . Pride and passion

Re: St Albans.

A truly outstanding performance. The whole side seemed fired up and I think we shocked a very good St Albans side with the speed with which we moved the ball.  Our movement off the ball was outstanding. Easily the best I’ve seen from us this season. Individual battles were won all over the pitch. It’s hard to believe this was nearly the same side that played against Tonbridge and tamely lost 0-1.
Having said that St Albans came to win the game playing 3 at the back and pushing players forward throughout.   Whereas Tonbridge strung 5 across the back and packed the rest in midfield and stifled the game. And they got there bonus sneaking a goal. And sitting back even further and doing enough to pinch the win. They shut the space right down leaving us no room to play in there half. And on the day we didn’t have the skills to pull them around. We always seem to struggle against teams that set there stall out to defend. But Tuesday night. Really shows we have a lot of class players that can really play. It was also really good to see Alex Bray getting back out there a real quality player that has been missed. Well done Mike and the gang.We really need to follow that performance up now with a win at Chelmsford. Good luck lads. Really good to win and see smiling happy people leaving the ground   😎
