Vs Frome Game ON

Just heard today's game is on with no pitch inspection. Lets hope for a big crowd. Lets get behind the lads and be noisey . Good Luck

Re: Vs Frome Game ON

Well that was frustrating, tossing away the lead against a poor team.  Although Chitty didn't cover himself in glory for both of our goals he kept the score down with a few outstanding saves, and shocking defending on our part meant we drop two points again.  You could almost sense it coming though, so fair play to Frome who suffered a similar fate this time last year when Gilly snuck a last gasp equalizer I seem to remember.
Thought Rollo did ok in his first game for us, he'll be a calming influence, and Harris was outstanding again in my humble.  We've the makings of a very good team so if we can keep the core of them together I'm optimistic we can make some real progress, although this season might be too early.  Happy 2013!

Re: Vs Frome Game ON

What a great first half and scored two but should have scored more ! 2nd half was always going to be hard on a poor pitch but we should have been out of sight and what goalkeeper there keeper was some outstanding saves . Well played you. Two points dropped against a very poor side but only ourselves to blame for not getting the 3rd . Anyway we didn't lose and I think if we can carry on playing the way we are we're going to give someone a shoeing soon. My mom Harris

Re: Vs Frome Game ON

We should have killed the game with a third goal and probably would have, had it not been for Chitty pulling off some great saves. It might just be my eyesight, but despite all of the bulbs working, the Sheldon School End seemed darker than ever this afternoon. Perhaps that was why we couldn't make any of those second-half corners pay.

Hockey lights not on?  Can't remember but they make a difference.

Re: Vs Frome Game ON

First game I've seen in a while and we could have been clear following the first half display. That said, Frome showed great spirit to get back into the game.

I have to say that I'm slightly concerned by the average age of our team, especially with the signing of Rollo. He is a good player but another on the decline rather than young and up and coming.

I'm interested in others opinions as yesterday we had, Rollo, Rudge, Harvey, Harris and Philips who are all the wrong side of 30.

I guess you could argue that with Knighton, Casey, Gutherie, John, etc this is a good blend, however it feels a bit on the 'old' side to me.

I'm not being critical but I would prefer a younger team, perhaps with a couple of older ex-pros to share their experience.

Ultimately I guess it comes down to the Board and the Manager who I have a lot of time for, I'm just interested what people think about a strategy where we look to develop younger players aka Mings, rather than become a 'last stop before retirement' for the likes of Philips, Rollo et al.

Difficult I know, because getting results is the name of the game.

Re: Vs Frome Game ON

You seem to have the opposite thinking of me, we have a young team and i would like a few older heads in our team/squad, i suppose its getting the balance right.

Thought you should have been out of sight by half time, and with our best defender and striker both unfit on the bench, best midfielder going off injured just before half time, and with our current form could see no way back for us and was dreading the full time score but fairplay we battled hard and scored 2 great goals.

Thought Alan Griffin was the difference yesterday, absolute class, even we clapped him off when he was subbed

Re: Vs Frome Game ON

I counted at least 3 superb saves from the Frome keeper that stopped it being a drubbing. 2-0 at HT was probably a good result for Frome, however, whatever Darren said to them during the break worked, or the Bluebirds were complacent because they immediately looked like pulling a goal back in the second half. At the end we should have kept pushing for a third, with long injury stoppage for Deano and the Frome player that Griff helped to carry off the field, mucking around trying to hold the ball in the corner to run the clock down almost deserved the punishment of the rocket equaliser.
