Salisbury

Lost 1-0 with a missed penalty in first half. Out of another cup against lower league opposition. We need to find someone who can reliably put the ball in the opposition net

Re: Salisbury

True to form we're again out of all cup competitions before December.

Re: Salisbury

Not surprised, we must be allergic to the smell of silver polish.

Re: Salisbury

One of the most enjoyable Chippenham games I’ve watched in a very long time. Ball on the floor, nice movement good variety of short/long passes.

A freak Will Henry mistake and a missed penalty cost us.  Bad news with Callum Gunner getting injured.

Ola Lawal is some player too. However, we don’t look threatening enough up front and don’t work hard enough to make up for the shortfall in quality.

Hope some of those youngsters stay involved Saturday as I don’t think we have anything to lose by giving them more opportunities.

Re: Salisbury

Was silly enough to go, a fairly strong line up on paper but again toothless. Also embarrassing to see Griffiths and Warwick squabbling over who was going to take the penalty. Lawal and Goulding the pick from an average bunch with again Santos anonymous.

Apparently we are now shopping at Lidl and Aldi, I can’t believe we ever shopped at Waitrose.

Re: Salisbury

We need to calm down a bit here. In any other season the Wiltshire Shield has about 3 people in the stands, a host of youth and reserve players and no one outside of the players getting a chance give a monkeys about the result. We had 4 academy lads in from the start tonight, 3 of them starting at the back against a fairly strong Salisbury team mostly consisting of their first team. Only Henry and Parselle tonight that you’d call “stonewall” starters every week. Gunner, Warwick, Griffiths and Santos have all been in and out of the side and only Russe on the bench with Hanks and Greenslade both coming back from injuries and Smedley and Coppin again both young lads from the 23s! How about we look at the fact these young lads have gone there tonight and with a bit of luck, the result could have come home with them. As it goes, we’ve missed a few chances again, missed the pen and a very uncharacteristic mistake from Henry gifted Salisbury their only goal on the night. Well done lads, a real testament to Joe and the work the academy is putting in. Well done to the gaffer for having the cajones to stick the kids in and use this competition for what it should be used for despite knowing a negative result would get this reaction and before I get accused of the “Blue tinted glasses” I am the first to admit that results haven’t been good enough later, nor have performances but this is going to be a tough month. Dorking, Oxford, Hungerford, Bath. You’d argue that all 4 start as favourites for obvious reasons and a toxic and negative atmosphere is going to do literally nothing to help the cause at Chippenham. Ultimately we all want the same thing, success on and off the pitch. When the chips are down, this is when support is crucial. They’ve not excelled lately, out of the cups, results haven’t been great, performances not been pulling up any trees. But mid table in the League, and a real junction in the season. A good run could see us flirting with the top ten, a bad run could easily see us having a tricky time down the wrong end. Let’s support, let’s encourage and be the 12th man we’ve been in times gone by! #BlueArmy

Re: Salisbury

Salisbury like ourselves played a very mixed team, Claridge stated prior to the game they would set out in a completely different formation with lots of changes to the norm, the game was a lot like a friendly and as normal we lacked any application, Cook gave players the chance to shine unfortunately that didn’t happen to any great extent. Melksham in the next round was a big incentive surely, it’s clear we are up against it and the loyal but dwindling away following are becoming very bitter and agitated. I agree we need to show our support but in turn the players need to show some fight, as for the penalty fiasco is the taker not nominated before kick off. Off to Waitrose with Mrs A.

Re: Salisbury

The league is the bread and butter, cup runs are the icing on the cake.Agood cup run brings in much needed funds and also brings in the non-committed fans.Every football fan wants their club to do well in which ever cup competition they are in.Yes we all like giantkillers, shame we’ve been the giants this year and come unstuck.Surely at Chippenham the fans deserve better.
