So, the Chippenham Town hectic away schedule carries on this weekend with a cheeky trip to the park. Park View Road specifically the home of the wings, Welling United. Both clubs are going into the game today off the back of a score draw in their last game. Welling against Braintree and Chippenham, surrendering a 2-0 lead against Slough in the 90th minute to end 2-2. Of course Chippenham did have a game against Tonbridge in between that. However, despite the referee deeming the game fit at 7:45, by 8:05 the game was impossible to continue, much to the annoyance of Chippenham and Chris Zebroski, who had put us 1-0 up away from home.
Chippenham come into the game in 14th position and the hosts down in 19th but the clubs are only separated by 5 points. Of course the same amount of points currently separate Chippenham from the playoff spots so in a tight league, it's all to play for and this fixture holds a lot of importance.
Chippenham Team has been announced and our line up is as follows,
Puddy, Jones, Law, Harrison, Parselle (C), Russe, Gunner, Hanks, Jackson, Zebroski, Bray
Subs - Ash, Stearn, Lolos, Smedley and Hughes.
Rests for Ross Stearn and Bradley Ash see Alex Bray and Zebroski come into the team for their starts. Ryan Law in on loan from Plymouth goes straight into the starting line up alongside Parselle with Spencer Hamilton still missing due to injury. His fellow loanee Lolos will provide options from the bench as well as academy players Smedley and Hughes.
Really hoping for a big performance here. After the disappointing way we conceded late at Slough and then of course the long trip to Kent on Tuesday, a response is truly needed here and I think Mike would agree that this is exactly the kind of side that the management team would have earmarked 3 points for.
If you would like to follow along this afternoon, Welling are selling the stream for £7.50 with a quick registration. Follow this link and follow the instructions.
Good luck to Chippenham, COYMB

Half Time - Welling 0-0 Chippenham Town
A fairly even half of football with half chances for both. Early exchanges saw Welling coming quite strong down the middle and moving the ball into the dangerous Akinyemi who fortunately for Chippenham, pulled his shot too far across Puddy and rolled wide. Chippenham grew into the game a little more with Jones crossing and finding Zebroski but the big man couldn't get his shot away and the chance went begging. The best chance of the half fell to Marlon Jackson, a corner routine from Chippenham went in short and the dummy allowed the ball to find it's way to Jackson around 14 yards out but his shot crashed off the crossbar and the game remains at deadlock.
Stream has been brilliant by Welling, although a recurring issue of the "Social Distancing" behind the goal Puddy is defending is sure to catch the attention of the National League officials now watching via the camera's. If supporters aren't clever and don't follow the rules inside grounds, how long do we think it will be until the supporters are removed from grounds again? Have to be very careful ourselves when we have supporters back in, so far in most of the games I have watched outside of all seater stadia, this appears to be a big issue.

GET IN THERE!!!!
A goal from substitute Brad Ash from a corner proved to be the difference today as Chippenham dominated the second half to claim a 1-0 victory away from home and all 3 points are coming back to Wiltshire!!
Chances throughout the second half were limited for the hosts after Puddy denied Welling's number 22 from close range with the goal gaping. It sort of looked as if Chippenham were going to be up against it however, we ourselves found our feet and after a period of constant pressure. The cross was whipped in for Ash at the near post to head home.
After that Welling tried to come back in but we not only defended well but looked very dangerous on the counter attack and should have put the game to bed when Stearn pressed the defender and Ash found the goal at his mercy, only to hit the legs of the goalkeeper.
Big three points, interview with Mike on YouTube to follow and hopefully something for him to smile about after a very tough week for the club on the road..

Great result, well deserved I’m informed.

Flashscore says we had one sent off. There's no mention of it on either ours or Welling's Twitter accounts. Is that a mistake?

Definitely a game of two half’s but a great away win.
Thought Welling just about edged the 1st, if only on chances alone. Bray and new bot Law finding it hard down the left. A couple of good chances for Dipo and Della-Verde. But that said we defended well.
2nd half was much the same until around 60mins, when Stearn replaced Bray and Ash replaced Jackson, both with better work rates than the departing two. Stearn offering much more of an attacking threat.
IMHO I don’t think playing two target men works for us, as know one to pick up the knock downs.
From then on we dominated(bar injury time)
Gunner hitting the bar on 64mins and on 67, Ash glancing in at the near post from a Hanks corner.
Ash could have put the game to bed on 90mins after good work from Zeb, left brads with only the keeper to beat, but put it straight at him.
As Voice has mentioned earlier, very little evidence of the covid measures Neil made reference too in his short interview.
Only witnessed ball sanitising, no one way system, no toilet controls, plenty not wearing masks and even one idiot running on onto the pitch (red zone). Millwall fans apparently.
A couple of police in attendance but they weren’t bothered.
Before anyone asks I was a CTFC excile today, as I’m working in London

Given they initially reported our goalscorer as Hash I don't always take what they report (at our level anyway) as 100% gospel

No sending off, Puddy was book for time wasting on 78 minutes, which got the home fans a little excited.
