So here it is, the evening that many view as the biggest night in the non league calendar. The FA Cup 1st Round Proper draw. For the second year in a row Chippenham players, management and fans alike will be glued to the BBC's coverage of the draw, with one absolutely beautiful addition this season. We are already there and no tricky replay to navigate tomorrow night in order to get there.
So with £35,000 of prize money already nestling in the account of Chippenham Town Football Club, tonight we find out who we will face for the chance to double that pot and for the first time in the history of Chippenham Town, make the 2nd Round of the worlds oldest cup competition. Every team from League One, League Two and a large portion of the National League will be in the hat with us with every one of us having our own fantasy of who we want to play either at Hardenhuish Park or one of the more glamorous stadium's around the lower tiers of English Football.
Some very different names to look out for this time around starting with 4 time winners Bolton Wanderers, a club that recently have found themselves in financial difficulty and are rooted to the bottom of League One with -8 points, this would be a dream draw for us with the almost guaranteed lure of the cameras to watch a national league south side take on the might of the one of the greatest clubs in the history of British football. 2 time winners Sunderland and Portsmouth will also be joining us in the draw with the latter winning the competition as recently as 2008 and making the final in 2010 before finding themselves falling through the Premier League trapdoor and down the leagues. In addition these three, former premier league sides on offer to Chippenham such as Ipswich, Coventry, Blackpool, Bradford, Swindon and Oldham will be an attractive game for the lure of the media to either Hardenhuish Park or the opponents slightly larger venues. Not to mention the chance of "The Class of 92's" media darlings Salford City and a chance to bump into the Neville's over a cider at Moor Lane.
Of course there is always the chance that we could end up with Dulwich or Oxford etc. But to even be here at this stage has taken a tremendous amount of endeavour from our team with games against Cirencester and Slough both going to replays meaning the instead of the 3 games some would have played to be here, our ironmen have so far played 5 one of which going to extra time. They have shown a brilliant character to this point to keep delivering us our dream of a big 1st Round tie after last years disappointment and I think anyone at Whyteleafe would agree that the biggest smiles in the ground belonged to those lads at full time and I hope for them more than anything they get the dream draws they are after.
BBC Two, 7pm for Live Coverage of the Draw and is being shown live in the Chippenham club house "The Blues Bar" and will be open from 6pm to enjoy a beverage with the draw and to hopefully celebrate the big tie surrounded by Chippenham's incredible support. Keep those fingers crossed. The boys have done there bit, now it's up to the gods!

I hadn't realised people, including M Collier, were not joking when they said they hoped for a bye. The demise of Bury does mean that one lucky club goes straight to R2 and collects £36K without kicking a ball. Would I want that more than the chance of TV money against a big club? Probably...

Oh Christ yes Newfan! This is 100% gospel, favoured this year instead of the lucky loser reinstatement of a team from the 4th Qualifying losers pot. Yes everyone would take this option should it be given mate, those big TV teams will still be waiting in Round 2 and with no losing money from this Round onward, that £36,000 and a freebie really is the golden ticket.

Chichester get it - that's fair enough as the lowest placed team in the draw

Nice gesture for Chichester to send part of their £36K to Bury FC too.

I think ball 71 might have spent a little time in the freezer to be honest but, if a team are going to get a bye I am glad that it was a team like Chichester. I have watched as they have gone through the cup, not being a million miles from me, a lot of these players have played at the level that me and my lads still play at on a Sunday morning and they are an excellent bunch. Will make the 2nd Round of the FA Cup a much more lively place and good luck to them. Fingers crossed we can cause the upset of the Cup so far and join them.
