I've been reflecting on what has been a momentous season in the history of our club. It's still not quite sunk in yet but it can't be under estimated what our Board, Management, Staff and Players have achieved in what is a tough and unforgiving division. The commitment needed to perform week in week out, the training, the travel, the long mid-week slogs, it's a real testament to everyone involved. No doubt it's been the last thing Mark thinks about when he goes to sleep, and the first thing he thinks about when he wakes up. Being involved in football at this level consumes your life and they deserve all the plaudits that are coming their way.
It's 17 years since we had the fantastic Vase run and the Final at Wembley. That, and the two promotions that followed, albeit as runners-up, were real watershed moments, as it raised our profile and established the club at a level I never thought possible since watching the Town as a small kid in the mid-60's. We should always remember and acknowledge those achievements. We've had some memorable times since then too with the cruel near misses in the play-off finals, and qualifying for the first round proper of the FA Cup in that never to be forgotten day at Basingstoke. There's been dark days too - it's only 3 years or so ago that Stourbridge came to HP and put 9 goals past us, and Bideford 7, so to reach this point where we've won the Southern Premier League, with some big clubs standing in our way, and going 23 games unbeaten in the process, is our greatest achievement in my book.
It'll be a whole new ball game next season, and the challenge will be to stabilise ourselves at that level. We've got numerous players who I'm sure can perform week in week out in the National South, and it'll be interesting to see who comes and goes in the summer, but for now enjoy this moment. It's been a long time coming.

I was thinking of that day recently. I wonder how many times Ian Harvey watched his goal on the TV replay.
Tremendous achievement this season. So glad we did without playoffs don't think I could take another one of those games like Bedford and Nuneaton.
Hope the players enjoy today and show some of the style and class which has been a pleasure to watch

Couldnt agree more. Its been 6 years since I left Chippenham and I've watched the goings on from afar. getting to the odd game in the process. What has unfolded over these past couple of years is nothing short of amazing and id like to thanks all those involved.
Like previous posts I have some great memories over the years, and if I could make a point of that to the current crop of players and officials. What you have done is created history, and that cannot be erased, created memories that last a lifetime. Provided those moments that in years to come, once younger men will share a pint and say with a smile - 'Remember that game when...'
Thats the greatest pleasure of all. Thank you!
