Re: V Kettering Town. Away.

Same thoughts as George - pleased with the result of course but these late wins seem to result in a poor performance on the next game. I hope that's not the case for Tues

Re: V Kettering Town. Away.

On Twitter club have said it's £5 on Tuesday night, so I wouldn't expect to see alot of the first team playing.

Re: V Kettering Town. Away.

Given that Chippenham Park are playing in the same competition it'll be the first team squad I guess?

Re: V Kettering Town. Away.

Why risk injury to players that are vital to our push for promotion in this pointless competition ?

Re: V Kettering Town. Away.

Probably play the game instead of training

Surprised the Wilts FA allowed this, or are they technically two separate clubs and not officially linked to each other at all?

Could be awkward if both teams reach the final.

Re: V Kettering Town. Away.

In order to spare the first team having to play in this unnecessary competition the club will have to promote lots of Park players to the first team and under 18's to the Park team. The league is too important to risk injury to first team players.

Re: V Kettering Town. Away.

We have a lot of players that havent been getting enough game time though. Mccormack , Campbell , Beedon , Griffin , Allen , Pook. We have a decent size squad. The pace wont be quick and tbh i dont expect them to have much of the ball. I think it will be used as a training exercise. And its good to give a few lads some minutes keep them match fit and involved.

Re: V Kettering Town. Away.

Well yesterday match certainly wasn't a classic, both sides started the game very cautiously and chances were very few and far between. Two very evenly matched sides seemed to cancel each other out and a dull midfield battle was the storey of the first half. With the strong Kettering defensive line up shackling Sandell and Pratt very well, and our back four / five having the the better of there front two. With not a shot on target from either side, probably the highlight of the first half was the back wall of the block work dug out that the seating was bolted to starting to collapse throwing the management and Chippenham subs forward. This delayed the game some 4-5 minutes while temporary plastic seats were found for our bench to sit on. The referee failing to add this time at the end of the first half.  Half Time 0-0.
The second half started a little quicker and Kettering got quickly into there stride in the 48 minute a perfect long through ball was floated over Mark Preece head to the lively Spencer Weir Daley he controlled it in his stride send a crashing shot across a diving Darren Chitty and in to the left hand corner of the net. 1-0. The game continued with both sets of forwards struggling to make any headway against two very dominant defences. In the 65 minute Guthrie was sacrificed as Chippenham brought on Alan Griffin as they went three up top to try to get something from the game. And in the 68 minute Kettering took off the very lively Canavan and replaced him with a more defensive midfielder as they  tried to protect there lead. Preece was now starting to get forward and Chippenham were looking more dangerous. In the 69 minute Preece forced a corner and from the resulting corner the ball was flicked back across by Pratt and Sandell  forced the spinning ball home from close range under pressure 1-1. The game continued with a couple of half chances for both sides with neither keeper really troubled. In the 87 minute the ref gave a direct free kick for a lunching high tackle  just outside the Kettering box. Sandell looked like he was shaping up to take it when up stepped Griff smashed the ball through the wall and into the corner of the goal. 1-2. In the last few minutes Kettering had a couple of dangerous free kicks just outside our area but our walls dealt well with them and we saw the game out. Three ugly points. But some times you've got to win ugly. It's what the good sides do.
Line up. Chitty,Preece, Felix, Horgan,Tindle,Richards,Ferguson,Smith, Pratt,Sandell, Guthrie.  Subs. Pook,Griff,Campbell,Allen.
Well done Matk,Tom and the lads. As  three hard won points come back to Wiltshire.
