Re: Chippenham Town v Leamington FC.

Agree ,no pressure put on sub keeper in a low key second half. Preece on for Connor not Callum, Connor has a calf injury I'm informed.

Re: Chippenham Town v Leamington FC.

Well we got the result we needed guys but it wasn't a classic.  Both sides started slowly and for the first ten minutes it was pretty cagey stuff as they felt each other out. Chippenham slowly got there passing game going and put together 15-20 minutes decent football with hard working Dave Pratt opening his acount with a cracking low shot across the keeper and into the corner. The half continued with Chippenham having slightly more of the ball without really troubling the Lemington goal. Shortly before half time the Lemington keeper and captain charged out of his goal and took the attacking Chippenham player out in the corner, having allready been booked he gave the ref no choice but to send him off with his second yellow. The second half with Chippenham kicking down the slope I thought it would just be a matter of time before we got the second goal and killed the game, but it just wasn't happening. I think we overdid the respect we showed them. They were very well organised and tried to keep the game narrow. As has been said we had a lot of the ball but we didn't test the stand in keeper. All credit to Lemington the longer the half went on the more possession they seemed to get in our half and you could see there confidence grow as they sensed there was something in the game for them. Chippenham seemed to drop deeper and deeper allowing Lemington to play in front of us.  You could almost see a late equaliser coming as they continued to push for the draw. Late in injury time after sustained pressure substitute Matt Jones saved the day with an athletic header off the line. Final score 1-0. And we're top of the league. I think the difference between this years side and last years squad is we probably would have conceded the equaliser. We look physical and mentally stronger this season.  It would have been nice to play flowing football and win but that won't always happen and Lemington were very well organised espesially when down to ten men. Well done Mark, Tom and the lads.  😎

Re: Chippenham Town v Leamington FC.

Seen it time and again where 10 men up their game and make things difficult for their opponents. Having said we made things easy for them. Not very impressive where the stand in keeper touched the ball about 3/4 times all the time he was in goal. Not one shot not one cross to deal with for all he was needed in goal he might as well as played as a outfield player. Too much going down the middle straight into their centre backs who hardly put a foot wrong.
Three homes games now and yes picked up valuable points but in all three games struggled to get past packed defences. Better teams than Cinderford and Kings Langley ( no offence) are going to come to us and play that way and go away with the points. Too many home points lost last year hope same doesn't happen this year.
Thought the officials had very good games yesterday and talking to some Leamington fans at half time most agreed with his decision to send off their keeper.

Re: Chippenham Town v Leamington FC.

Agree with most that has been posted but disappointed with the attendance. Who posted 500 plus crowd expected, if Leamington hadn't brought a load of supporters we would have only had about 300 for this top of the table clash. Notable gaps on the terraces. Positive note, went out this morning drove past tatty pink board, returned this afternoon and it's gone. Could this mean that a new board is coming?? " We're Chippenham old boys and we sing when we want".

Re: Chippenham Town v Leamington FC.

OK Reginald 74 why am I being down on us when all I'm doing is simply stating facts? This is a forum where people can hopefully express their views without being subjected to rude/personal responses. As you clearly don't agree with my posting please correct me as far as my comments on yesterday's game are concerned which really aren't any difference from other postings. Don't you agree we have struggled to breakdown  packed defences at home so far? I was at Weymouth and such a difference when we had space to play which quite clearly visiting teams are not giving us. And did dropping too many home points last year cost us?

Re: Chippenham Town v Leamington FC.

To be honest Joiner. We have played 3 at home and won 2 drawn 1. Scored in each game. Had chances in all games to have more also. So i would say facts prove you are wrong.

Re: Chippenham Town v Leamington FC.

Joiner, had three or 4 corners second half, Sandell shot blocked Smith shot saved. Pratt clean through 1 v 1 keeper saved. Credit to Leamington and credit to us for keeping the ball for long periods, hope we can chat at St Neots. I will be wearing Chippenham Town shirt and just ask for Terry. Look forward to seeing you there. T.R.A.
