Kettering

Well, I suppose it had to end some when but we did make it easy for them with a totally unnecessary sending off. We gave it a good go with 10 men but it's always going to be a struggle. Could have got back into the game except the final ball just wasn't there. Mark must sort out the discipline or we will slip to the standard of previous seasons. We don't want suspensions deciding our season.

Re: Kettering

I think they seemed to want it more than us in the early stages. Silly red card gave away the point but we so close to getting a deserved draw with only 10. Ref was poor and inconsistent - think we have had him before and similarly inept.

Re: Kettering

Crap first half but felt we were better team second half and could have won that on another day. Despite the result its encouraging how well and attacking we played with ten men.

Re: Kettering

Poor discipline cost us today, that is the 5th sending off this season, 3 in the league. Guthrie was petulant again and could also have been sent off, Surprise that it took so long to bring on subs, Kettering had played all their 3 subs whilst our were still on the bench. I must admit even when we were down to 10 men, we still played well. Most of the top clubs lost. Hope Tuesday goes ahead and we can get back on track.

Re: Kettering

First half Kettering were all over us and looked a really good side but second half looked pretty average and who knows what we could have done with 11 men. Yesterday was again an example of a team blatantly wasting time from the off and allowed to get away with it by the referee. Classic example in the first half where Kettering had a free kick and their player kicked the ball away and not a word from the referee. If the officials let you do it no reason not to keep doing it.

Re: Kettering

In my opinion the only things the officials got right all afternoon on Saturday with the red card for Smithy, and rightly so, and our disallowed goal which was over a yard off-side unfortunately. Why oh why can't officials work as a team ? Time after time on Saturday the Kettering keeper was kicking the ball right outside his area, and the linesman did not even take a blind bit of notice. Thought the performance was OK on Saturday, and with a a full tem I think we would have got something out of the game. Agree entirely with everyone's comments on our discipline. The Manager needs to address this important issue fast, otherwise we are going to have suspensions in key areas, and with no apparent plan B at the moment, that may cost us.

Re: Kettering

Toyboy and others, its a bloody sending off, it happens in the heat of battle. Our discipline is much improved, I cam only remember Tindle and Holgate being suspended this season, I maybe wrong.

Re: Kettering

There is a fine line between Lack Of Discipline and Passionate Over Enthusiasm. All footballers have a tendency to show both traits from time to time. Take Patrick Vieira and Roy Keane for an example. Both picked up a series of red cards but were two of the greatest midfielders of the modern era. Mistakes can and WILL happen down the stretch and I don't think we should dwell on this. Yes we had a man sent off on Saturday. Did it cost us the game? Possibly who knows how different it would have been 11 on 11 but it's not worth getting irate or losing focus. Let's forget about this result and get back on track over the next couple of games. One game at a time we move closer. Couple of months ago Poole looked like they were well on the way, they have done there usual fall away and look mediocre at the wrong time again and now it's not the playoffs we are after. LETS WIN THIS LEAGUE!!

Guthries record this season is a grand total of 5 bookings, below a number of his teammates. He is also , due to the formation played , asked to commit to a lot of tackles, some of which , ineveitably a player will get wrong. The sending off was once again a problem
