St Neots

HUGE game this. Next 4 games are all games we expect to win. Currently 1-0 up  so looking good.

10 points from the next 12 would be brilliant.

Re: St Neots

Stunning win.  Well done all.  And well done to Frome for beating Hitchin!
I watched James Guthrie's brother Jon play for Crewe in the thriller at Swindon.  Don't think he got booked ;-)

I posted this on Christmas Eve.......just saying

Unlike George I rarely remember dreams but I woke up this morning convinced we'd signed Charlie Austin.  Sadly I think Southampton might beat us to him.

Re: St Neots

St Neots Town 0   Chippenham Town 4.                                                  Chippenham gave a five star away performanca totally dominating most of the 90 minutes. St Neots manager had resigned on Thursday, after there winless run had reached 8 games. There director of football taking temporary charges . A different voice in charge and the promise to the fans to move away from the long ball game which has seen them struggle this season. A potential banana skin in the making. Mark & Tom had the players right up for the kick off not wanting to get there dented confidence up. Chippenham started the game very quickly and zipped the ball around on there first class pitch, the surface was exellent. St Neots struggled to cope with our flowing passing game and the pace at which we were moving the ball.  Chances were created with Sandell. Fergie, and Griff all going close. On 15 minutes after nearly constant pressure Chippenham opened the scoring with Sandell and Griff combining well to knock the ball back to the fast arriving Matt Smith who struck a low drive into the bottom corner from 20 yards out, giving the diving Andy Wilton no chance.  Chippenham continued to dominate, but on a rare St Neots counter attack the lively Tom Meechan broke clear down the wing and produced a pin point cross on to the fast arriving Lee Clarke, his  powerfull header looked like it was flying in to our net only for Kent to produce a fantastic diving save to keep us in front. Another big blow to St Neots came when they lost there skipper And centre back Ryan Frater with a ham string injury mid way through the half. Two minutes before the break we gave ourselves a two goal cushion, Sandell being pulled down inside the area, he stepped up and thumped the ball into the top left hand corner.
The second half continued in much the same manor with wave after wave of Chippenham attacks with a combination of Wilton fine saves and near misses mostly from the hard working Fergie the score remainded 0-2. In the 54 minute the ball was fed out wide to Griff who cut in and fired the ball across the goal with the on rushing forwards and defenders, the ball was turned into his own net by  Ben Burton. It was good to see the injured Connor  McCormack back replacing the lively Bally. He. Made several good runs forward and looked sharpe considering his long spell out. In the second minute of injury time Connor burst past the defender driving into the box and hitting the ball low and hard across the face of the goal, again with there defenders arriving  together with our forwards, the unfortunate Adam Tann smashed the ball into the roof of his own net making it 0-4. (Sorry  Connor can't give you the goal, dubious goals panel decisions) Ollie Taylor replaced Griff and Matt Jones replaced James Guthrie for the last 10 both looked fairly lively. An exellent all round dominante performance in which all 11 players were at the top ends of there game. For me The hard running Matt Smith just taking Man of the Match.
Team.  Kauppinen, Ballinger, Grant, Pook, Tindle, Preece, Ferguson, Smith, Griffin, Sandell, Guthrie.  Subs.  Jones, McCormack, Cambell, Taylor.

For the third game running four goals scored, other results went our way the goal difference is now plus 20.
A tough game to come on Tuesday evening against Chesham who's game was off yesterday, so they should be fresh.
Well done Mark & Tom things are looking good.

Re: St Neots

Excellent match report as always Jono. Getting back to our search for a new forward, don't get me wrong but why the hurry we have a team that has scored 4 goals in each of it's last 3 league games. Yes we need cover but is all this talk of a new signing just to plan by the boss to fire up our current front players ? If it is, it's working! COYB
