Hitchin Town v Chippenham Town.

A very tough game against a Hitchin side that sit equal top of the current form table. They have a huge five games in hand on us with nine points to make up, Again we will have to play at our very best and take our chances  to come away with the win or a draw. They have a very sharp striker in Jonny McNamara who our defence will need to keep a lid on. But with the run were on and the confidence of the lads I'm sure we can do it.  Good luck to Mark, Tom and the lads.    😎

Re: Hitchin Town v Chippenham Town.

We started slowly with Hitchin looking very lively. In the second minute the ball came across the box and found the feet of the unmarked Hitchin skipper Alasan Ann who forced the ball past the diving Kent from close range. Hitchin continued to dominate the play with there pacey midfield bossing the game. As the half wore on the hard running Griff and Sandell starting to give there back four a hard time. Sandell broke clear and crossed perfectly to Griff who miss kicked from inside the area, followed by Griff firing just wide with the keeper beaten. Half time came with the early goal still separating the teams. The second half saw Fergie who was taken off as a precaution with a slight pull replaced by Matt Smith. Smith looked lively from the start and forced himself past a couple of players running across the box and cutting back on to his right foot and unleashed a powerful shot in to the top right hand corner, giving the diving keeper no chance. Both Hitchin and Chippenham created good chances with the pacey and trickey Jonny McNamara causing a few problems but being generally well marshalled by Harry Grant playing out of position at left back. Hitchin won a free kick on the edge of the box, the superb free kick was angling into the top corner but the diving Kent produced a fantastic save to keep us in the game. Ryan Campbell came on and looked lively. Sandell went off with small niggle late on. Chris Allen coming on. Matt Jones also took a knock and was taken off.   We nearly snatched the winner very late on with Griff angling his header down and just wide of the far post with the scrambling keeper well  beaten. A very good performance espesially with conceding so early against the inform Hitchin. The pitch surface was poor and the very strong wind made football difficult but to there credit both teams coped well and produced an exellent spectacle. It's the sort of game past Chippenham sides would have caved in and been beaten. We have become very solid side with a great spirit and confidence running through the squad. We stay in second place in the league. Roll on Cambridge City at home on Tuesday night.
Team. Kent, Ballinger, Grant, Preece, Tindle, Guthrie, Fergie, Pook, Jones, Griffin, Sandell.  Subs. Allen, Bevan, Campbell, Smith, Norman.
My man of the match was shared between Griff & Tindle.

Re: Hitchin Town v Chippenham Town.

Excellent report Jono. Looks like a great point away at an in form team. Poole pulling out a good lead in the table but we're in a great position for the playoffs.
