Inside Left, I did read the press release about where he had played most games but the headline says he has signed for us as a striker. Definitely a quality player but why do you suddenly think he is going to score  goals for us when clearly he is not an out and out striker?

Because he should have sufficient quality to be better than the majority of players he'll be up against, remember what level he's dropping down from. Griff dropped down and had no problems scoring goals for us, question you might want to ask is who's going to provide the chances for him.

Re: Andy Sandell signs

I have followed many players like andy and had to put a comment although a good left back i would be concerned why it was that no clubs from his own league were interested. Managers talk and i am afraid andys lack of commitment to the game shows perhaps why he didnt stay up. Why o why do people think that it is so easy to become a striker when they have hardly played in the position is beyond me. Chippenham got rid of a goal scorer in griff who has scored well over 200 goals in his career to someone who has scored just 27 goals in his whole career.!!.

Re: Andy Sandell signs

Depends on what other options he's been given - pretty sure he had offers from elsewhere but not geographically attractive shall we say?  Anyone with his experience should be welcomed.  Well done to all those involved in getting this sorted.

Re: Andy Sandell signs

Inside Left its not Andy's quality or experience that is the issue what my ( and  I assume Ben C) concern is that will someone who has been signed as a striker and has scored 27 goals across his career score the goals that we were missing next year. You need to have the experience as a striker as was well evidenced by Charlie last year who knew where to put himself in the penalty area to score. That as I said comes with experience not as playing a a full back ( or even midfield) but as an out and out striker. Remember last season the number of times we were forced to play midfield players as strikers without much success. Having said all that  I hope Andy does the business for us.

Re: Andy Sandell signs

According to the G&H he has done it before. And in any case we've signed a player who should be a different class, wherever he ends up playing.

Re: Andy Sandell signs

also the G&H said he was signing so he didnt have to commute while playing for a club. but a excellent signing one who i think will cause havoc with opposistion defences,
