Credit where it's due, Dan is doing a great job. I'm pleased to hear he's carrying on.

A man of many talents. He was also pretty good at playing the mouth organ.

Possibly the point being alluded to was IF there was going to be a pitch inspection. Given Taunton’s recent history of postponed games it seems strange that neither side announced yesterday or early this morning that there would be a pitch inspection …. an approximate time may have been helpful to those travelling  independently. The criticism was therefore a lack of information regarding any proposed inspection.

Precisely Charlie Bird!

Also, Taunton knowing there was going to be a pitch inspection, not announcing it, and still advertising on line tickets, creates a bad impression.

I did go that Forum a while back, and although its focus was entirely commercial/marketing matters, it was very useful-- especially as, besides yourself outlining the Club's marketing strategy, The Chairman was there and able to give definitive views on things..as well as make clear the club's spending priorities and income streams. He also talked about the likelihood of a  4G pitch.  Mark Collier used to do a "Meet the Manager" session(s?) in July   if I remember, that focused on all things from a Playing point of view.  The one I went to was pretty poorly attended. I'd be interested in knowing from others how a re-vamped Supporters' Club could function and why the old one expired. Definitely welcome the opportunity for a face-to-face with Gary Horgan ... especially as there has been so much debate about our playing patterns.. particularly up front... as well as the passing around at the back to entice the press. It would be important to have this , however difficult to set up and fit in, during the Playing Season, I think, while issues are live and to the fore. The Close Season ones are always going to be poorly attended I'd guess.
As for people not stepping out from the shadows of anonymity.. hopefully they will be in a comfortable minority. They'll be missing out on an opportunity to listen to and question people that run the Club.

Me too! I think an energetic Supporters' Club could be a real asset to CTFC. A preliminary discussion among interested fans while the season is still live, would be good.

Why don't we have a supporters' club any more which could help fund a player? I speak as someone who, like you, was once a member of the supporters' club committee.

There's a precedent for bans ending early when a person hasn't been involved in any further trouble. Football Banning Orders issued by a court can, on application, be withdrawn after two thirds of the ban has been served. As we're only talking about a club ban, it's entirely within the gift of CTFC to end it without any further delay.

General Discussion » V Braintree » 11/2/2024 1:14 AM

The atmosphere today from CTFC supporters was non-existent. Not only wasn't there a single chant all game, the seats normally occupied by the fans who make all of the noise, were empty. The fall-out from the supporter being banned, has presumably resulted in his friends boycotting our games. If we're going to be playing National South football again next season, we need all of the help we can get. Surely there's a case for ending his ban now. At the same time, the players need to play their part too. The engagement between the supporters and the players, is at an all time low. Luke Russe and Spencer Hamilton really knew how to work the crowd when they were here. Fans want heroes. They want to celebrate goals with them. Nowadays at full-time, even when we've played well, most fans have left the ground by the time the players stroll over. I accept its a two-way process, and improvements from both sides are required, but if things don't change soon, the atmosphere is just going to get worse.

Such a shame to get nothing from the game, especially having come from 2-0 down. Second half Tom Daley would be proud of the Hemel display, spent a lot of time on the floor and won due to a questionable penalty, their second half plan worked a treat. The lack of atmosphere must be really uninspiring for the players, is like playing in a library, at start of season we had a great atmosphere, used to enjoy standing near the singing but that group is non existent now. Was stood by bar and the guy in his 20's with the stone island jacket once again causing problems think he needs calming down saw people getting irate today with him.

At the beginning of the season the atmosphere was brilliant had one or two older lads trying to get other fans into the ground and getting them to singing songs.
The lad in his 20s wearing the stone island jacket has been a problem he was the reason why one of the older lot is banned for the season. Every week I see or hear he’s causing problems yet still nothing is done but the old lad got banned after one warning.
I actually feel sorry for him being mistreated and made to be the problem. He was a loyal supporter who went home and away games and always encouraged us to hope on the train to do away days. He always brought the atmosphere no matter what.

Perhaps its time the club took another look at the season long ban. The atmosphere is non-existent. The individual concerned hasn't to my knowledge attempted either at home or away to make a reappearance.

Thank you for doing the leg work, Dauntsey!

No worries 96chipp. Thanks for sharing the news. I went searching for an interview with Mike Cook because I couldn't/didn't want to believe it was true.
