Chippenham V Wealdstone

I can't believe we are playing another team in very good form. They are on a run of 5 games unbeaten. They will come to us looking to attack and take home the 3 points.  They are one of the best supported teams in the division and will bring a large travelling support, which should make for a good atmosphere.  Our home form has been decent and hopefully we can put last weeks disaster behind us and Mark and Tom can get the boys right at it from the start. It's a game we need to get a good result from.  Good luck tomorrow to Mark,Tom, Horgs, Jas and the lads.

Re: Chippenham V Wealdstone

Good result considering we played over an hour with 10 men. Guthrie needs to take a good hard look at himself. What he was doing over there when he was playing as a left back I do not know and that's before you look at the challenge. The man is becoming a liability and the issue needs to be sorted out quickly.

Re: Chippenham V Wealdstone

Very good performance by all. Fantastic spirit after going down to ten. Chris, Guthrie is allowed on the other side of the pitch by the way.

Re: Chippenham V Wealdstone

Being on the other side of the pitch doing the job you are supposed to be doing is fine, in this case defending  and feeding the ball to the midfield. It's not fine as a left back to be in the top right quarter of the pitch committing a reckless foul and getting sent off.

Re: Chippenham V Wealdstone

I thought the performance today espesially after James Guthries 25 minute red card was top draw. Wealdstone are an inform side.   The 10 men stuck together and kept a very solid shape. Players where backing each other up all over the pitch, and we kept this going for the full 90 minutes. At times it was like attack against deffence. But we held on and deservedly got the draw. A real credit to every one of them. And as for Jared Thompson what a performance. He is a class act. And today showed just how good he is.  This was a real team performance and with 723 at the game today things are starting to look up. Well done lads.  😎

Re: Chippenham V Wealdstone

What a performance, If only we can defend like we did today away from home.  Everyone gave everything.  Sad to see most of the Wealdstone players run towards the ref after Guthrie's challenge, especially their keeper who ran like a man possessed. Next stop Shrewton!

Your original quote, what was he doing over that side of the pitch. " He ran into midfield and across the pitch" No problem with that, the tackle reckless and will serve his punishment I'm sure. Great work by all and you decide to bring up the one negative of the day. Have a good weekend Chris .

Re: Chippenham V Wealdstone

Great performance after being let down by Guthrie again, he is a total liability to the team and the club, if he can not learn, no use to the team, that is 2 suspensions down to him and only a third of the way through the season.  Thought Ref Durkin was poor, as he was partly to blame before tackle by Guthrie who was fouled twice before the shocking challenge. Several needless bookings by a referee, who appears to want the glory more than the players, would be interested to know how many players he has sent off in Chippenham games, I know there are a few.  Keeper was exceptional and some first class saves throughout the game. Good turn out by the fans.

Re: Chippenham V Wealdstone

Let's start by getting the negatives out of the way first. James Guthrie's sending off spoilt what could have been a 3 point victory. Someone needs to sit him down and have the same conversation I understand was had with Tin's a couple of years ago. That is sort your discipline out on the pitch or there's no place for you in the team, it worked for Greg. Saying that some blame must go to  the person who decided to play him as fullback. Up until this season he's been a winger, get Nuno sorted and back in favour or bring in a new fullback.
Now for the positives, great performance from the rest of the team and especially the keeper, for such a young lad he gave a performance that was well worth man of the match. Pratty up front on his own very nearly got us all the points had it not been for some great positioning from their keeper. Fantastic crowd and away fans created a great atmosphere within the ground. Nice to see Jake Andrews there, shame not on the pitch. "We're Chippenham old boys and we sing when we want."
